Pink Tutu Blog NYC: New York, New York! #1456

Hello my darlings, and welcome back to another week of pink-tastic adventures in the Big Apple! It's Monday 1st May, and guess what? It's a new month, and that means it's time for a whole new batch of fun, fabulous, and totally pink activities to fill up my diary. Oh, the possibilities!

Now, you might think that after a whole year of New York shenanigans, I'd be running out of things to do, but trust me, my dear readers, that's simply not possible in this city that never sleeps! I feel like I've barely scratched the surface of all the wonderful things this city has to offer, from the iconic Broadway shows to the hidden gems in trendy neighbourhoods. And speaking of neighbourhoods, this week, I'm going to be focusing my attention on the Lower East Side - a place that truly embodies the vibrant energy of New York City. It's a melting pot of art, fashion, and food, all served with a generous helping of attitude and a whole lot of heart.

But first, a little about this weekend gone by...

Saturday: The week began with an unforgettable performance at the Met, featuring my absolute favourite, "Swan Lake." Now, let me tell you, there's nothing quite like seeing a classic ballet like this performed in such a stunning venue. The atmosphere was electric, the music was magical, and the dancers, well, they simply blew me away with their grace and athleticism. I swear, I nearly burst out into tears when that famous pas de deux started, the music always sends a shiver down my spine!

Sunday: After a relaxing brunch at my favourite cafe in Greenwich Village, it was time for some serious shopping. Let's just say, my wardrobe is now feeling a whole lot more chic and a whole lot more pink. I found this divine pink cashmere sweater at a vintage shop that literally had me doing a pirouette in the street! (And let's be honest, I wouldn't have it any other way).

Speaking of chic, I'm just going to say this right now - pink tutus and the Lower East Side are basically made for each other. It's an explosion of colour and creativity, with the air thick with the aroma of vintage perfume, street food, and the excitement of a thousand different stories unfolding right before your eyes. I'm so excited to discover its hidden treasures!

Oh, before I forget, my readers know that one of the things I absolutely love about this city is its unparalleled public transportation system. The New York subway is like a massive pink-hued labyrinth, transporting you from one exciting experience to the next with efficiency and charm. And don't even get me started on those little pink metro tickets – they're like little tokens of adventure, reminding me that I'm just a few steps away from my next grand discovery!

Now, for this week's agenda!

Monday: As a self-respecting tutu-wearing, pink-loving fashionista, it would be absolutely criminal if I didn't spend a Monday browsing the Lower East Side's fashion havens. I've heard whispers of hidden vintage boutiques packed with sparkly jewels and retro treasures – think feather boas, glittering gloves, and shoes that would make even Cinderella blush. Of course, no outfit is complete without a touch of pink, and you just know that I'll be finding the perfect tutu to complement my new finds. Let's be real, it's not a shopping spree unless you're wearing pink!

Tuesday: Let's get artistic! This week's schedule features a visit to the Tenement Museum. This museum offers a unique look into the lives of immigrants who once called the Lower East Side home. It's both a historical exploration and a poignant reminder of the strength and resilience of those who came before us. The Tenement Museum doesn't sound overly pink, but don't be fooled by this assumption! I’ll wear my brightest tutu, it'll add some flair and inject a splash of pink joy into their stories.

Wednesday: Speaking of joy, Wednesday calls for some much-needed ballet therapy at a new studio I've been wanting to try - Ballet Beyond. I can already feel that creative spark within me! There's nothing better than feeling your heart beating to the rhythm of the music, your body gliding across the floor with grace and purpose.

Thursday: It's date night! A stroll down Orchard Street to grab dinner at a cosy little bistro with outdoor seating - a perfect setting for a chat, laughter, and good company. Perhaps with a cheeky glass of pink champagne? Why not!

Friday: Now, this is what dreams are made of. I'm going to be seeing the musical “Six” in the heart of Broadway! If you haven’t heard of this show, it’s all about the six wives of Henry VIII. It’s described as a "pop-concert style celebration," so it's sure to be an electrifying, dazzling show. I am picturing a sea of pink and glitter in the audience and my own bright pink tutu will fit right in, a symbol of celebration and empowerment for a show about some very strong, independent women.

Saturday: A little bit of retail therapy never hurts, especially on a Saturday in the Lower East Side! I'm talking designer vintage stores, cool art galleries, and local independent shops selling handcrafted jewellery and accessories. All that browsing deserves a good cuppa (I'm still a girl from Derbyshire, after all!).

Sunday: Finally, a day of well-deserved relaxation and some more explorations. The Lower East Side is also home to some gorgeous parks and green spaces. So, it's a day for picnic blankets, fresh air, and enjoying the simple pleasure of watching the world go by – of course, while sporting a spectacularly pink outfit, because I never truly take off my tutu, you see, it’s just part of my day-to-day attire. Just because I am taking a break from ballet class does not mean I must break from pink!

My dearest readers, the week ahead looks to be absolutely dazzling! It's a whirlwind of exciting discoveries, fashion inspiration, and just a little bit of pink magic. And, you can bet that I will be documenting every delicious minute of it here on my blog for you. I can’t wait to share it all with you!

So, remember, whether you're a seasoned New Yorker or just visiting, take some time this week to embrace the city's vibrancy and creative spirit. And, most importantly, remember to wear a splash of pink! It will not only make you feel great, it will put a smile on the faces of everyone you pass by.

Until next week, my beautiful friends!

With love and sparkles,

Emma xxx

Remember, I'm still working on my plan to get everyone wearing a pink tutu. I can already feel a collective glow happening and that makes my heart very happy! If you see a girl in a pink tutu in the street - be kind, give her a smile - and maybe even a wink!

I have so many more stories to share and so many more tutus to wear, I'm simply brimming with joy to spread a bit of pink cheer to the world!

*Keep on twirling, my dears! *

Emma
