Hello my darlings! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, reporting live from the magical metropolis of New York City! Just last week, I twirled my way onto the cobblestones, and this city hasn’t stopped dazzling me ever since. And believe me, I’m getting in my fair share of twirling.
A Christmas in the Big Apple 🍎
Today is the 25th December, and as I’m sure you all know, this is the most wonderful time of the year! I’ve spent the last week surrounded by glittering lights, icy snowflakes falling gracefully, and a contagious air of festive cheer. I truly felt like I’d stepped into a whimsical Christmas card – especially as I strutted about in my sparkly pink tutu, feeling like a tiny, shimmering snowflake myself!
The city has transformed into a winter wonderland, all adorned in twinkling decorations. I even saw a giant inflatable reindeer perched atop a building! This city always knows how to create a festive atmosphere. Of course, my favourite thing about this city is the theatre – you can find an incredible ballet show running every single night, and the energy is just electric! It's always a special experience, being surrounded by people who truly appreciate the beauty and power of movement.
My New York Adventures🗽
As you know, my adventures aren’t limited to ballet. Every corner of New York holds a new adventure, a new sight, a new opportunity to soak up the vibrancy and energy of this dynamic city.
This past week I took a trip down memory lane by visiting the Museum of Modern Art, which had a brilliant exhibition dedicated to the early days of film. I must say, watching those silent films with their beautifully crafted expressions, made me think about how ballet, with its emphasis on telling stories without words, really speaks to the very heart of that art form!
There’s also something utterly exhilarating about being in a city where people can really show their style and personality, all through their choice of clothes. So naturally, I've been spending an inordinate amount of time in stores, picking out the most eye-catching items for my wardrobe – a stunning turquoise velvet blazer for a pop of colour, some fabulous pink tights that make even the plainest outfit a statement, and of course, several tutus that can easily transition from a ballerina class to an evening out in this glorious city!
My Travel Secrets
For those of you planning a New York trip, I'll let you in on a little secret: the Metro is your best friend. This subterranean labyrinth is a fast, efficient and surprisingly enjoyable way to navigate the city. Not only can you save time, but you're also offered an intimate glimpse into the city’s bustling heart. I'm a big fan of finding a cosy spot on a quiet train carriage, watching the people rush by as my imagination paints the city stories they must be carrying with them.
My love affair with the city's cultural heart hasn't waned. This week I treated myself to the most spectacular performance by the American Ballet Theatre. Seeing dancers glide across the stage in graceful pirouettes and leaps, with the lights reflecting in their sweat-kissed skin, never ceases to leave me in awe! Every movement is like a whispered story, weaving a spellbinding tapestry of artistry. I feel like the only thing I'm missing are the pink tutus in the audience!

Don't worry, my dedication to the pink tutu cause continues in New York. My outfits always draw attention and create a delightful contrast to the city's usual monochrome palate. I’ve even had a few people approach me asking for photos. I truly believe a little bit of pink and a touch of tutu magic can brighten even the most gloomy of days!
New York, for all its glamour, also embraces an effortless street style. The downtown aesthetic here leans heavily towards comfort and simplicity – but that doesn’t mean it’s boring! A plain white t-shirt with a bold statement piece like a vintage belt or a sparkly hair clip can transform your entire look. And guess what? You know what I'm going to suggest to inject that much-needed dose of pink into their outfit – yes, you guessed right! It’s a pink tutu!
Making Memories ✨
New York has a special way of wrapping itself around your soul. The city’s pulse, the city's sounds, the way the light bounces off the tall buildings, and those hidden cafes where you can relax with a delicious cappuccino and lose yourself in a captivating novel, are all part of the unforgettable spell this city casts on those who are lucky enough to visit it.
Each moment in New York City is an adventure in itself. As the festive season draws to a close, and the bright, energetic lights fade into the cosy glow of the holiday spirit, my adventures in this fabulous city continue.
