Happy Monday, lovelies! 🎉 It’s Emma here, back from another whirlwind weekend in the city that never sleeps… New York City, of course! And let me tell you, this weekend was absolutely extra, darling. From dazzling ballet performances to fabulously festive shopping sprees, I practically danced my way through the concrete jungle in my pinkest, twirliest tutu. 🩰

But first, a little catch up! For those of you new to the #PinkTutuBlogNYC, I’m Emma, a tutu-obsessed ballet dancer and aspiring fashionista, who ditched Derbyshire for the bright lights of Manhattan. Each week, I document my NYC adventures, showcasing the best places for a tutu good time! And believe me, New York is positively teeming with them!

This weekend was special, though. Not only was it the first day of a brand new year (can you believe it?!), but it also kicked off my grand New York City New Year’s adventure! So, with a skip in my step, and my trusty tutu securely fastened (pink, naturally!), I dove headfirst into all that New York has to offer.

For any fellow dance enthusiasts, you know the drill - a new year calls for a spectacular ballet performance. This year, I indulged in a captivating production of “The Nutcracker” at the Lincoln Center, and oh my, it was truly a treat for the senses!

The sets were simply breathtaking, filled with intricate details and rich colours, creating a magical world I couldn’t wait to be transported to. The costumes were just as fabulous, sparkling with sequins and feathers, and those ballerinas, their grace and skill simply left me in awe. 😍

The whole production felt like a Christmas dream come true, with a touch of New York City magic. I especially loved the snow scene, with swirling white fabric cascading down from the ceiling, making me feel like I was truly in a winter wonderland. It was enough to make any tutu-wearing heart flutter!

No New Year’s trip is complete without a little retail therapy, and my dear friends, I was absolutely ready to unleash my inner fashionista. Fifth Avenue beckoned, with its designer boutiques, vibrant window displays, and an atmosphere of chic elegance. ✨

I spent the entire afternoon flitting from store to store, searching for the perfect accessories to pair with my treasured pink tutus. My basket was brimming with a dazzling array of items - a chic black beret with a delicate pink ribbon, a fluffy, silver feather boa (it was practically calling my name!), and a pair of sleek, silver ballet flats. And I can’t forget my newest treasure, a pair of sparkling pink rhinestone earrings! These were absolute must-haves, adding a touch of glamour to any tutu-fied look! 💎

But of course, I couldn’t resist snapping a few photos along the way - it was just too much fun, twirling around amongst the shoppers, my pink tutu shimmering in the late afternoon light! And just like that, my New Year’s wardrobe was feeling fresh and ready for any Parisian cafe date or Broadway performance.

One of the things I truly love about New York City is its incredibly efficient public transport system - the legendary Metro! It’s my favourite way to navigate this bustling city. And this weekend, the metro became the perfect setting for a fashion statement. I mean, how could I resist showcasing my brand new silver ballet flats and that irresistible pink feather boa? 💖

Honestly, it’s so much fun weaving my way through the crowds, listening to the rhythm of the city, feeling the energy of New York around me! There’s something incredibly charming and spontaneous about jumping onto a crowded train and enjoying the journey, knowing I’m just one stop away from my next adventure.

No New Year’s weekend in New York is complete without experiencing the magic of Broadway, darling! So, after an unforgettable afternoon, I changed into a chic and comfortable, but still oh-so-fashionable, tutu-inspired outfit. Think a fitted black top with a voluminous tulle skirt and a stunning pink sash - the perfect mix of chic and playful!

For dinner, I discovered a hidden gem on the Lower East Side - a charming, French bistro with a delectable menu and an elegant, candlelit ambiance. It was the perfect place to unwind after a whirlwind day, enjoying a glass of wine and indulging in delicious cuisine. And, of course, my outfit drew a few admiring glances!

And for the grand finale of my New York weekend, I took my place in the orchestra pit at the Broadway theatre. It was a dazzling performance of “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” - a love story told with a backdrop of iconic Parisian glamour, dazzling costumes, and the most memorable music!

I felt my heart beating with excitement and pure joy. This is the power of New York - its ability to make you feel alive, vibrant, and ready to embrace any adventure, whether it’s twirling through the city in a pink tutu or experiencing a breathtaking Broadway performance!
