Hello my darling darlings! ๐ฉฐ It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu-clad blogger, back from another whirlwind week in New York City! This week's post is all about celebrating my love for this magical city, and of course, the twirls and twirls I've been enjoying.
Monday morning dawned crisp and bright, the perfect setting for my latest metro adventure. The yellow and blue trains whisk you through the city at breakneck speed, a truly fascinating sight. My favourite part? The people. Everyone's rushing about with a sense of urgency, yet they all seem to be so full of life and energy! It's absolutely infectious, and it's easy to feel energised by this unique New York spirit.
Speaking of energy, you'd never guess where I was heading this morning... to Steps on Broadway! ๐ This legendary dance studio, located just a stone's throw from Times Square, is famous for its classes, and for training dancers for Broadway and television. I practically flew into the studio, my tutu fluttering in the wind (literally - the New York breeze has a mind of its own!). A couple of hours of intensive ballet training left me buzzing. My inner ballerina was definitely feeling inspired, ready to twirl with even more confidence.
After class, I felt the need for a little retail therapy. New York is a shopping paradise, you really could lose hours exploring. Today, my destination was Bloomingdale's. The window displays were utterly fabulous, a mix of vibrant colours, playful designs and a touch of avant-garde fashion that got me utterly pumped for the shopping extravaganza that was about to begin! I found the most divine silk scarf with a whimsical flamingo pattern (naturally, I had to grab it for myself!). And let's not forget about my new favourite shade of pink - a delicate rose pink blush that instantly caught my eye. I have a feeling I'll be incorporating it into my wardrobe pronto!
Later, after a delicious afternoon tea at a little English cafรฉ tucked away in the heart of Greenwich Village (complete with finger sandwiches and a dainty scone with clotted cream!), I headed off to catch the most magnificent ballet show! "Giselle" was taking centre stage at the Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater - oh, the splendour! The ballet was a whirlwind of emotion, taking me from heartfelt joy to deep sorrow in a matter of minutes. The performance was flawless, and I was utterly captivated by the ballerinaโs graceful moves. The show, set in a picturesque forest, captured the ethereal magic of nature and the intensity of human emotions so beautifully. I felt myself swept away into the enchanting story, a testament to the power of dance.
On the way back to my hotel, I made a detour at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). The minimalist architecture, bold colours and iconic pieces from artists like Van Gogh and Picasso made for an inspiring evening. I just love being surrounded by creativity! MoMA is the ultimate place for inspiration, and as an artist myself, I felt utterly energised, my mind bubbling over with new ideas. It's the perfect way to end a day spent embracing the cultural heartbeat of this phenomenal city.
As I sat on the train heading back to my hotel, a thought hit me. Maybe this journey isn't just about dancing through New York City. Maybe it's about spreading joy, sharing my love for all things pink and tutu-fabulous, and reminding everyone that life is truly a beautiful dance. From London's Royal Opera House to the vibrant stages of Broadway, my path has been guided by this vision.
Perhaps someday, all of New York City will be dancing in pink tutus. Now, that's a thought to make even the most seasoned New Yorker smile! ๐
See you all next Monday with another Pink Tutu adventure! ๐
Lots of love and twirls,
Emma x
