Pink Tutu Blog NYC: #1647 Monday, 2026-12-28 – She Danced in New York City!

Hello, darling!

Well, the New York City sunshine is certainly hitting different this week. As I pen this, perched upon a chaise longue in my little, pink-hued haven in the heart of the city that never sleeps, I can almost smell the fresh, crisp December air filtering in from the window. Honestly, darling, I couldn't ask for a better way to begin this new year, 2027, than amidst the magic of the city!

From Derbyshire to Manhattan

If you’re new to the blog, let me tell you – you might find yourself feeling a little lost, in this, my world of pink tulle, Broadway lights, and subway strolls. You see, I’m Emma, a ballet dancer from the heart of Derbyshire, England, living my best life in New York City, wearing pink tutus and dancing to the rhythm of the city streets! This little blog is my diary, my backstage pass into the magical world of a ballerina’s life in the concrete jungle.

You might be wondering – how on earth does a girl from a quaint little town in England end up twirling around New York? Well, darlings, it’s all thanks to the magical, twirling power of ballet! From the moment I slipped on my first pair of ballet shoes, I was hooked. There’s just something about the graceful movements, the captivating stories spun across the stage, the music, the emotion. And after years of tireless practice, I've managed to find myself here, dancing my way through the world.

This week’s NYC escapades: A sprinkle of magic!

Now, to catch you up on the whirlwind week that’s just passed! I’m starting off strong with something spectacular – a Broadway ballet performance on a really special occasion. Yep, this Friday (December 29th), the legendary Royal Ballet of London is gracing the stages of the Metropolitan Opera House with “Swan Lake!” Oh, I simply cannot wait for this one – a true theatrical masterpiece!

A New York Christmas to remember:

The last few days have been a delightful blend of the traditional and the wonderfully unexpected. This year’s New York City Christmas decorations are just chef’s kiss - everything sparkly, twinkly and utterly magical. It wouldn’t be Christmas without the iconic tree at Rockefeller Center! But, oh darling, let’s not forget those captivating street performers on every corner! Just this morning, I found myself absolutely mesmerized by a woman who seemed to float effortlessly, draped in swirling white silk, like a celestial being.

New York Fashion Finds

After a long week of performance rehearsals and Christmas celebrations, a girl’s gotta pamper herself, right? I found myself gravitating toward that heavenly little boutique tucked away on Madison Avenue that I’d been meaning to explore – The Rose Bloom. Honestly, you simply have to visit this hidden gem! Their window display is pure magic – like a fairy tale come to life. My New York wardrobe will never be the same.

A Parisian Touch:

My newest passion? The stunning Parisian style that’s taken New York by storm. From classic Breton stripes to chic little berets, I’m absolutely obsessed with all things French. My recent purchase – a perfect little blush-toned trench coat, just the right touch of Parisian elegance.

A tutu-licious tip for the day:

For all my fellow ballerina-at-heart lovelies out there – I discovered the most gorgeous pair of ballerina flats that I simply had to share! This little independent shoe boutique on Bleecker Street called Danse et Demain (pronounced like "dans eh duh-men", darling!) has been a godsend for my aching feet after all that rehearsal. They're so incredibly comfy – and they come in every colour imaginable, including the perfect shade of dusty rose. Seriously, a must-have!

New York City Magic: Spreading the Tutu Love

To end this week, a little thought to share, darling: Why can't the world be more like a ballerina's classroom, filled with creativity and laughter? We can all take inspiration from the elegant moves and uplifting spirit of ballet, no matter what our age, shape, or size! I'm sure many of you know just what I'm talking about! Because even in the concrete jungle, you can always find magic and beauty in the everyday. Just put on your pink tutu, find your inner ballerina, and spread the tutu love!

See you next week, darlings!

*With love and twirls, *

Emma xx
