Hello, my dearest tutu-loving friends! Welcome back to another Monday of my New York City adventures, here on the one and only Pink Tutu Blog! Today, my darlings, we’re hitting post number 1665 – a grand total! – and I am practically bouncing off the walls (well, in my favourite pink tutu, of course) with excitement to share with you everything that’s been swirling around in my fabulous tutu-clad life in the Big Apple.
Now, as a regular visitor of Pink Tutu Blog, you’ll know that I’m utterly smitten with New York City! From the dazzling lights of Broadway to the rhythmic buzz of the streets, this city pulsates with a unique energy that inspires creativity in every inch of my being. It's also no secret that I’m quite the ballet enthusiast, and my recent jaunt in New York wouldn’t have been complete without taking in a show. Speaking of shows, can you believe it's already May?! Honestly, it feels like yesterday I was bundled up in my favourite pink woolly coat (tutus are totally fabulous in winter, by the way) battling the brisk English winter back in Derbyshire.
Speaking of which, a little “hello” to all my fellow Derbyshire darlings reading from the UK! Do any of you have exciting things planned for the month of May? Don't forget to send in photos if you’re out and about in your own fabulous tutus – I’d love to see them.
And now, onto my adventures in the glorious metropolis that is New York City!
A Dance on Broadway!On Friday, my sweet cheeks, I witnessed the sheer magnificence of Swan Lake at the Lincoln Center. I must tell you, seeing such artistry up close is something truly magical! I’d be remiss if I didn’t say that this performance utterly blew me away – I spent most of the performance practically glued to the stage, lost in a swirl of grace and beauty. My tutu was spinning as fast as those beautiful ballerinas! If you’re a ballet lover, like yours truly, you simply have to add this performance to your New York City to-do list.
The whole evening was just an enchanting mix of dazzling music, ethereal movements, and breathtaking costumes. There's just something truly special about watching the delicate precision and raw emotion of ballet in such an incredible setting. Plus, it gave me ample inspiration for my own little dance moves in the Metro - you have to see how they've designed these underground stations!
Metro AdventuresTalking about my beloved metro! There’s no more efficient and fabulous way to explore the city, really. From zipping up Fifth Avenue to venturing into the exciting underground labyrinth of Chinatown, it truly is my happy place.
I've been playing a fun little game of spotting as many pink tutus as I can. My mission? Get every person in the whole of New York (and eventually the entire world) in a pink tutu! What better way to inject some magic into the world, wouldn’t you say? So, don't be surprised if you see me rocking my signature pink tutu in a station near you, flashing a big, bubbly smile and giving a wave – after all, spreading the pink tutu love is my personal calling in life!
Style Spotlight: Of course, I don't just swan around in my pink tutu! A well-chosen ensemble is a must! And what better place to get the most fabulous fashion inspiration than New York City, right?
So this past Saturday, I went for a bit of window shopping on Fifth Avenue, getting some fresh inspiration for my future Pink Tutu outfits. My wardrobe is brimming with fabulous finds, like this chic blush pink dress I nabbed from a little boutique nestled on Bleecker Street. It’s the perfect mix of girly elegance with just the right amount of edginess - a pink tutu look for any occasion!
And for those glorious evenings when I'm twirling around New York, I absolutely adore pairing my tutus with these fabulous sparkling heels I found on the Upper East Side. They add a touch of sophisticated sparkle to my outfits, perfect for a night out at a glitzy ballet show or a fabulous musical on Broadway!
Speaking of the theatre…
Broadway Buzz!On Sunday, my darling dears, I went to see Moulin Rouge! The Musical. The stage, my dear readers, was simply magical! They've brought this incredible story to life with breathtaking costumes and stunning sets. The whole experience left me wanting to sing along – which I totally did (quietly, of course)! It's simply unforgettable!
Oh! Before I forget – let me tell you about the delicious treat I had! As you may know, I’m a bit of a gourmand (well, when it comes to delectable pastries, at least!). This charming little French patisserie, tucked away near the Metropolitan Museum of Art, is a hidden gem. They have the most exquisite selection of pastel-coloured macarons that I literally couldn't resist! (Don't worry, I also snagged some delicious pain au chocolat - perfect with a cuppa.)
Tutu Inspiration Corner: As a regular ballet goer (and total pink tutu fan), I love being inspired by the dazzling dance shows in NYC. The Swan Lake performance, particularly, left me feeling extra inspired to practice my own ballet poses!
So, I thought, why not share a little "Pink Tutu Pose of the Week?"
And what better pose to kick things off than the timeless and elegant arabesque pose? Here's how I see it: arabesque – a dance of grace and poise that perfectly embodies the feminine elegance I always want to radiate in my pink tutus! So, all you budding ballerinas out there, give it a go – even if it's just in your bedroom or at the local park! I'm with you every step of the way, supporting all you little tutu enthusiasts, as you explore your own inner grace.
Don’t worry – I’ve even added a couple of "Pink Tutu Tips" below to make sure your ballerina dreams become a reality. I've been channeling this positive energy while taking a few ballet classes in New York. So exciting! I simply had to put my pointe shoes on and let loose in a glorious dance studio nestled in the heart of Manhattan. There’s nothing more exhilarating than flowing through movements and expressing yourself with each pirouette. If you ever come to New York, make sure to try out a ballet class! You'll feel like you’re on top of the world, just like me when I'm twirling in my favourite pink tutu!

Get Your Pointe Shoes On!
- No tutu collection is complete without at least one pair of stunning pointe shoes. While in NYC, there are some wonderful shops that specialize in ballet attire and supplies. Trust me, you will never want to take those pointe shoes off!
Twirl to Your Favourite Music:
- Find some tunes that really get you in a dancing mood. Music is essential to inspiring beautiful movement and getting your tutu swirling with style!
Experiment with Your Pink Tutu Styles:
- Try new ways to tie your tutu or wear it with different outfits! Just be sure to go with a style that truly captures your unique personality and adds an extra dose of fun and whimsy to your look.
