Hello my darlings! It’s Emma here, back from the Big Apple, still buzzing from another magical week in New York City! This week’s adventures were sprinkled with a generous dose of glitz, glamour, and enough pink tulle to rival a fairy's dream!

I know you all know how much I love a good pink tutu, and I promise, darling, I have not strayed from my mission this week. I've been sporting my new "Pink Power" creation (made with just a little more sparkle this time) everywhere I've gone – and trust me, it’s turned a few heads. ?

It seems the city of New York is just as captivated by my tutu-filled journey as I am, and it’s inspiring me even more to share my passion for all things pink, sparkly and whimsical! Today, I’ll tell you all about it.

Let's dive into all things pink today, shall we?

I’m sharing all the latest from my New York escapades, which include my latest tutu wardrobe additions, my discoveries in the most fabulous shops (hint: lots of sequins and feathers, darling), my journey into the New York subway system (more chaotic than I thought!) and an unforgettable trip to the American Ballet Theatre’s grandest production. I can’t reveal too much about that last one, but let’s just say there was a firebird and a prince charming, oh and did I mention there was more sparkly, more tutus than you can shake a stick at.

Let’s start with the fun part - fashion! It wouldn’t be a proper Pink Tutu Blog NYC post without some serious sartorial delights. I confess, the trip to New York has left my closet overflowing, but hey, it's all for the cause of sharing my love for tutus!

The first order of business, darling, was to head straight for Soho and the Fashion District! It’s a fashion-lovers paradise, overflowing with fabrics, lace, and sequins as far as the eye can see.

I was practically bouncing off the walls at M&J Trimming with excitement, just looking at all the different types of embellishment. And trust me, I had a whale of a time rummaging through their endless stacks of sparkling trim and intricate lace for the inspiration for my next big tutu creation!

I mean, seriously! I’m already dreaming up all sorts of new ways to put them to use, I can practically feel the glitter on my fingers as I write this!

I can't resist telling you about another delightful discovery, too – B & J Fabrics on Canal Street! They’re a total gem when it comes to anything sparkly. From shimmery stretch velvet and iridescent tulle to yards and yards of sequined trim and dazzling beading, this place is a fabric lover's dream come true. This place will be getting regular visits for my tutu-making exploits.

I knew just what I needed after an exhausting but fun-filled day scouring for sequins: Ladurée, of course! Who doesn't love a good macaron in the Big Apple? Especially after a day of pink tulle and sparkly trim, am I right? I think I may have taken a dozen back to the hotel room (shhh!).

A Bit of Practical Advice, Darling…

If you’re planning a visit to the city, make sure you add the Fashion District and Soho to your must-see list, darling! Don’t forget to pop in The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, too, to soak in the art of fashion from every era, including some truly glamorous dresses and costumes for the stage. They do a grand exhibition in the Met’s grand hall each May, where they celebrate a renowned fashion house from a specific period. The outfits worn by ballet stars and theatrical divas are always on display at the Met, which always leaves me swooning. Oh, and be prepared to spend an entire day there, dear readers, you'll be overwhelmed by the exquisite textiles and haute couture.

This week, I truly embraced my inner New Yorker, darling, and braved the mighty New York City subway! I mean, who needs a chauffeur when you have the “A” line, “Q” line, or “7” line? They really are an incredibly effective way to travel from one part of Manhattan to the next. There are also quite a few other options such as busses and even taxis! It is the only way to fully get to grips with the city’s energy.

Now, while I am totally down for a bit of metro magic, getting used to the city’s network has been, let’s say, quite an experience. A truly colourful cacophony of sounds and a whirlwind of humanity (just picture it, darling, a sea of people squeezing their way onto an over-packed metro). Not quite as calm and serene as a classical ballet class, shall we say.

For example, you must pay strict attention to announcements to avoid ending up on the wrong side of the city. Don’t get me started on the “7” line going straight up the east side of the island (talk about a speedy trip through Manhattan, but also very bumpy).

To help keep me sane amongst the throngs of people, I found that wearing a bright pink tutu really helped. Not only is it pretty fabulous, but it also makes navigating this concrete jungle a whole lot more fun.

If you ever find yourself riding the “Q” train during rush hour, dear readers, and spot a little pink twirling, that just might be me! Don't be shy, come and say hello! ?

Now, onto my most magical New York experience so far – The American Ballet Theatre’s new production of “The Firebird!”

Darling, this ballet was a masterpiece! The costumes were opulent, the dancing was spellbinding, and the orchestra was pure magic. I mean, the firebird was just mesmerizing - her fiery costume and choreography were absolutely spectacular! The entire audience was transported into another world by the ballet and it left everyone spellbound and buzzing with applause.

To say I was inspired is a bit of an understatement, dear readers. It was an unforgettable experience that reminded me why I'm so passionate about ballet and the joy it brings to every dancer on stage and every person in the audience. I’ll be savoring this ballet in my heart for weeks to come!

Now, it would be a crime for me to visit this beautiful city without venturing into its museums. And let’s be honest, what's a pink-loving girl like myself to do in a city brimming with artistic delights and cultural landmarks? Why, embrace the beauty of course, and add it to my pink tutu-inspired travels. I know you'll be wondering why I’m mentioning museums in a tutu-filled blog, but trust me on this, dear readers. I'm a bit of a cultural vulture at heart and have found all sorts of inspirations in the city's art and fashion scenes - especially with how pink has been used in so many styles throughout the decades. You can always spot me in the middle of a group, staring at a work of art (wearing my Pink Power tutu, of course) while pondering its colours and texture, its meaning and emotions.

One of the galleries that has really caught my eye was The Frick Collection, just a short stroll from Central Park, up on the east side of Manhattan, which houses an impressive collection of paintings by Rembrandt, Van Eyck and Vermeer! It's no surprise, darling, that it's housed in a historic mansion, all dark mahogany and gilded décor (oh, so dramatic! In a good way, darling!)

I had the best time exploring this historical haven. It is almost a bit too pretty, which makes it an excellent choice for a day out for the art and fashion connoisseurs (you’ll have the best photo-worthy shots!) I spent quite a long time pondering the “Venus of Urbino” by Titian and felt it quite inspired my tutu design for next week. ? I felt like the goddess of romance, ready to dance through the city (it was pink, and pink is my color). Oh, the power of pink tutus to transport me to another dimension - and the colours that I’m finding here have been sparking so many exciting new tutu creations, you wouldn't believe it!

This week I’ll be adding some sparkle to Central Park’s Cherry Blossom Festival! I just know this event will be a colourful explosion of all things pink and floral - the perfect backdrop for my newest pink tutu, which, I hope to share on Instagram, so stay tuned for the new uploads. I will definitely add photos of this weekend’s highlights - including the flower stalls, street entertainers, and even the little free library tucked away near the boathouse. I can almost imagine all the fun I’ll have, dancing around with the lovely crowds (maybe even teaching the locals some basic ballet steps, it wouldn’t be out of the question, especially as I think pink tutus could be the next Big Thing here in New York). Oh, I think a ballet flash mob might just be a great way to get this city twirling in the streets!
