Hello my lovely Tutu Twirlers!
It's Monday again, and I'm back from a whirlwind weekend in the dazzling metropolis of New York City! ?️ Oh, the sights, the sounds, the smells… and of course, the shopping! ✨
I must admit, I've been yearning for this trip for ages. Ever since I saw that incredible production of "Swan Lake" in the Met Opera House a few months back, I knew I had to get back to the Big Apple. The energy in that city is simply electrifying, and there's something about the combination of ballet, Broadway, and bustling streets that just makes my heart sing. ?
Speaking of dancing, this trip was a truly immersive experience. I even managed to squeeze in a ballet class at the famed American Ballet Theatre studio. Can you imagine? I, little old Emma from Derbyshire, twirling and leaping alongside aspiring professionals in the very heart of New York! ? The energy was unreal – I could barely contain myself! (Let's be honest, it was tough to resist striking a pose or two in my new, perfectly pink tutu - it’s a custom piece I had made especially for this trip!). ?
The best part? It wasn't even on the itinerary! It just so happens that I bumped into a friendly face at the stage door of the Lincoln Center. It turns out he was an aspiring dancer who, for reasons unknown, couldn’t go to his class that day. Feeling incredibly grateful and slightly guilty, I begged him to let me join his group - luckily for me, the kind instructor agreed! ?
But I wasn't just hopping around the studio - I was also catching shows galore! I managed to see both "The Phantom of the Opera" and "Hamilton" during my stay, both of which completely blew me away! Of course, no trip to New York would be complete without a visit to the iconic Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was as though the ancient gods and goddesses themselves had reached out to me from their painted frames!
My journey was definitely a feast for the senses. I savored every second, from the exhilarating experience of the city’s public transport (I took the subway everywhere! What a fun, fast and friendly way to get around – they even have special carriages just for wheelchair users) to the mouthwatering bagels at Russ & Daughters Cafe on Orchard Street (don’t tell anyone, but I got a bagel AND a slice of cheesecake!). ?
It was truly a trip I’ll remember forever - especially all those wonderful encounters I had with friendly, welcoming New Yorkers (don't worry, they’ve already embraced my pink tutu message). I truly believe everyone looks and feels incredible in a pink tutu, and that feeling only gets amplified in a place like New York City. It just has that certain “je ne sais quoi” that encourages people to embrace their individuality and express themselves! ?
Of course, no trip to New York City is complete without some shopping! I absolutely had to visit the legendary Tiffany & Co. store. The sheer opulence left me speechless – I think I even heard angels sing when I laid eyes on the iconic Tiffany Blue box! And it was the perfect excuse to finally try out the pink-tinted rose gold bracelet I’ve been lusting after all year! ? (Don't worry, it goes perfectly with the pink tutu).
Oh, and can I just say how much I adore the New York skyline? From every corner, every bridge, it's a dazzling spectacle of twinkling lights and towering structures, the ultimate representation of hope and dreams! ?
My trip may be over, but my inspiration from the Big Apple isn’t. My travels have left me feeling truly alive and vibrant. New York has once again proven that it's the perfect place to get your heart pumping with energy, excitement, and pure joy! ✨
