Pink Tutu Blog Paris - Post 22: Bonjour from the City of Lights!

Bonjour mes amis! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink tutu wearing blogger, writing to you live from the enchanting City of Lights: Paris!

Oh, Paris! You stole my heart the moment I stepped off the EuroStar (yes, I still prefer the romance of rail travel over flying). The city itself feels like a fairytale - with its cobbled streets, grand architecture, and the air that smells of freshly baked bread and jasmine. It’s simply irresistible!

Now, you know I have a soft spot for Paris – it’s like the couture capital of the world for fashion and the ultimate stage for performance. And let’s be honest, there’s nothing more captivating than watching a beautiful ballet under the glittering Eiffel Tower. I’ve already got my eye on several shows at the Opera Garnier and even snagged tickets for the ballet at the Palais Garnier - can you believe the luck?!

Speaking of luck, I managed to fund this whole trip by performing at a fundraising event back home in Derbyshire – talk about a dream come true! My Swan Lake solo went down a storm and the generous audience even gifted me with a beautiful, antique pink tutu - a true Parisian treasure! It's already in my suitcase waiting to be unleashed on the streets of Paris.

Of course, a visit to Paris wouldn't be complete without a proper shopping spree, right? My trusty Pink Tutu Paris journal is filled with must-see addresses, from the historic Marais district, with its charming boutiques and art galleries, to the chic Saint-Germain-des-Prés area with its trendy vintage stores. I'm hoping to find some treasures for my own personal collection, and of course, I'm on the hunt for the perfect Parisian pink tutu for the ultimate photo-op under the Eiffel Tower.

Saturday 27th May 2000 – and already, I’m experiencing Parisian magic.

This morning, after a decadent breakfast of flaky croissants and café au lait, I ventured to the iconic Notre-Dame Cathedral. Despite the recent renovations, the sheer size and intricate details of the cathedral left me breathless. I could imagine the grandeur of centuries past and how much joy it must have brought to the Parisians who first worshipped within its walls.

Then, it was off to the Tuileries Garden – a gorgeous green oasis in the heart of Paris. I enjoyed a leisurely picnic amongst the perfectly manicured gardens, enjoying a light lunch of fresh bread, cheese, and local wine – truly a delightful Parisian experience!

And what’s Paris without a romantic boat trip down the Seine? This afternoon, I hopped aboard a traditional bateau mouche and sailed past the city’s most famous landmarks – the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum, and the Hôtel de Ville – with the sun setting behind them. It felt like something out of a movie, with the twinkling city lights reflecting on the water.

In the evening, I found myself completely charmed by the bustling Montmartre area. After taking in the impressive Sacré-Cœur Basilica, I explored the quirky artist’s studios, stopping to chat with some charming local painters. They offered to do my portrait – but as tempting as it was to have my own little Parisian souvenir, my tutu wasn’t designed for portrait posing!

But let’s face it – a girl's gotta eat! Dinner tonight was a delectable meal of escargots, followed by a succulent filet mignon, washed down with a glass of French Bordeaux. (Not sure my grandma would approve of the escargots, but it was worth it – a little indulgence is part of the Parisian experience, right?)

My evening ended with a truly memorable performance at the Théâtre de la Ville. This gem of a theater offers some truly incredible productions, and tonight, I had the privilege of witnessing a ballet en pointes masterpiece. The graceful dancers moved with effortless precision, the music was simply sublime, and the whole experience felt both ethereal and captivating.

As I write this blog, still filled with the vibrant energy of my Parisian day, I can't help but be overcome with a feeling of absolute contentment.

Paris is a city of dreams, a city where beauty, art, and romance collide. Every corner, every street, every monument whispers a tale of elegance, passion, and unforgettable experiences. It’s like stepping into a time capsule, yet somehow feeling totally modern at the same time.

But as much as I adore the city, what makes my heart sing is that magical feeling of adventure that only comes from venturing beyond my comfort zone and wearing my favourite pink tutu wherever I go! Paris has been the perfect setting for some truly special moments – moments I will cherish for a lifetime.

Until next Saturday, remember to follow your dreams, embrace your inner ballerina, and maybe even try wearing a pink tutu – you might just find your own inner Parisian charm!

Stay stylish, Emma xxx
