Pink Tutu Blog Paris: #140 - Bonjour from the City of Lights!

Saturday 31st August 2002

Oh là là! Bonjour from Paris, darlings! It’s Emma, your favourite tutu-wearing traveller, and I’m finally back in the City of Lights. It’s been a whole year since my last trip, and you wouldn’t believe how excited I was to step onto the EuroStar, feeling the familiar excitement buzzing around me like a packed performance of Swan Lake.

It’s always a little surreal to leave the green rolling hills of Derbyshire, my home, and arrive in this whirlwind of elegance and history. This trip, though, feels even more magical. This year, I’ve booked a cute little hotel right next to the Eiffel Tower – can you believe it? I’m staying just a hop, skip, and jump away from one of the most iconic landmarks in the world. Can’t you just imagine the photoshoots I’ve got planned?!

Anyway, I digress. Let’s talk about my journey!

The EuroStar itself was a dream. There’s something so luxurious about travelling on a high-speed train, feeling like you're zipping through time as the countryside whizzes by. I, of course, had to dress for the occasion. I felt perfectly at home in my custom-made pink tutu (with added sparkles – because why not!), paired with a crisp white blouse and my signature cherry red pumps. It was all very Marie Antoinette, if you ask me.

Now, you all know how much I love the ballet, so, you guessed it! I made sure to schedule in some performances while I was in Paris. The Théâtre du Châtelet was a sight for sore eyes. The décor was simply divine, all gilt and plush velvet – perfect for the flamboyant gowns and elaborate tutus on stage. My heart actually skipped a beat when the curtain rose on "Giselle" – it’s still my all-time favourite. Such passion, such emotion, and the dancers? Divine! It really felt like watching a fairytale unfold right before my eyes.

Naturally, a Parisian trip wouldn’t be complete without some retail therapy. After all, one can’t be the Pink Tutu Queen without staying up to date on the latest trends, darling! And trust me, the streets of Paris are bursting with incredible fashion. I treated myself to a gorgeous pair of Chanel shoes (finally!), and a silk scarf adorned with vibrant butterflies that just called to me from a charming boutique in the Marais district. My closet will thank me for it later.

What’s happening today?

So, what’s on my itinerary today?

  • Bonjour, Bonjour: The morning began with a delightful pastry (pain au chocolat, naturally!) and an espresso at a chic little café in Montmartre. The scent of freshly brewed coffee and the buzz of conversations in French all around was pure magic.

  • Taking it to the Streets: This afternoon, I’m catching a ballet street performance in the Latin Quarter. They call it street ballet – can you imagine the grace of ballet flowing through the bustling streets of Paris? I can’t wait to see how the dancers navigate the crowds, their artistry radiating even amidst the hustle and bustle of the city.

  • Illuminations: This evening, I’m catching the stunning illuminations at the Eiffel Tower. Imagine that golden light cascading over the entire city – absolutely magical! I’m planning to dress up in my Parisian Princess look for this: a floaty tulle skirt in a pale pink (obviously), a delicate lace top, and my signature, glittery headband. It’ll be perfect for snapping a few Insta-worthy photos to share with all of you!

Pink Tutu Inspiration:

If you’re thinking of a bit of a style refresh, Paris is brimming with inspiration. It’s not just about couture and designer labels. It's about taking risks, finding pieces that express your personality, and above all, looking and feeling fantastic. Embrace colours, darling! Try bold hues, experiment with textures. It's all about self-expression, about embracing the you that loves to shine.

And, who knows? Maybe this Parisian adventure will inspire a whole new pink tutu creation, because even I never stop evolving!

That’s all for this week, my dear friends. Remember to keep an eye on the blog for more Paris adventures next week! And remember:

  • Embrace pink! It's the colour of joy, of passion, of fairytale dreams.
  • Love yourself. You are beautiful, unique and worthy of wearing a tutu, even if it’s just in the privacy of your own home.
  • Shine bright. Every single day is a chance to show the world your sparkle!

Au revoir, lovelies, and stay stylish!

  • Emma
