Pink Tutu Blog: Paris – Post #149 – A Saturday in the City of Lights

Bonjour mes chĂ©rie's! It’s Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to the most romantic city on earth – Paris! Oh la la! My beret and tutu are positively delighted to be back, and I’ve brought back enough memories and photos to fill a suitcase ten times the size of my actual one.

Eurostar, My Love

This time, I arrived in style, taking the Eurostar from London St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord. Oh, how I love this elegant train journey, all sleek leather seats, sparkling wine and charming French attendants. You really can’t beat a trip across the channel for a romantic dose of chicness, even if it is in a bright pink tutu! I definitely attracted some curious stares and charming smiles on board, but then, isn’t that all part of the fun?

The French Fashion of My Dreams

First stop: shopping! Paris is the holy grail of fashion for me. The boutiquĂšs along Rue du Faubourg Saint-HonorĂ© are a ballet dancer's heaven! They just understand that every woman wants to feel like a beautiful ballerina. I picked up the most divine pair of pink satin ballerina shoes with little black bows – perfect for pirouettes! And don’t even get me started on the hat selection! Feathers, tulle and lace, I bought one of each, I just couldn’t resist! I always think a feather hat adds a little bit of Parisian magic. It's simply irresistible.

A Date With the Louvre

This week's adventure brought me to the Louvre, a place steeped in history, culture and oh, the artwork! Honestly, it could take me weeks to fully explore this incredible palace, but even just a quick visit brought me to tears with its majestic grandeur.

Standing in the centre of the Salle des États, looking up at the incredible painted ceilings of Eugùne Delacroix, the breathtaking detail and the beauty of it all, made me realize just how small I really am. It also gave me inspiration to become even more ambitious, I want to dance on the most stunning stages in the world, all across the world! Just think of a beautiful Parisian stage and imagine a hundred twirling ballerinas in pink tutus! Oh la la!

La Belle Vie (The Good Life)

No trip to Paris would be complete without indulging in some local treats. Let me tell you, nothing beats fresh French pastries and a coffee at a local cafe! My inner foodie couldn't resist savoring the flaky croissants, sweet pains au chocolat, and the soft, melting macarons! I simply can't travel without these little morsels of pure pleasure!

Ballet for My Soul

I managed to sneak in some time at the Palais Garnier Opera House, for the stunning production of ‘Swan Lake’. The beautiful choreography, the captivating music, the incredible costumes – it left me utterly speechless! I felt like I was floating on clouds as the graceful ballerinas performed with incredible grace and precision. It really was magnifique.

I'm already plotting my next ballet class at L'École de Danse. Paris is a ballerina’s dream, just oozing elegance and artistry, and just the thing to inspire my own dance performances.

The Power of Pink TutĂș's

You know what, I truly believe the world would be a much brighter, happier and more fun place if everyone embraced the power of the pink tutĂș.

The confidence it gives a girl, the sparkle it brings to every day, the way it transforms an ordinary outfit into a joyful symphony, and even the sweet smile it brings to strangers faces. Pink tutĂș's say you're ready for fun, you’re ready to dance, and you're ready to make your mark on the world! And if that doesn't fill your heart with joie de vivre, nothing will.

Stay tuned, chĂ©rie’s, as I get back to my beautiful Derbyshire countryside and start working on new choreographies and my upcoming performances. There's always something new on the horizon, something magical just around the corner! I’ll be sharing all my ballet journey with you every Saturday, here on pink-tutu.com. Don't forget to share this post with your friends – the more people embrace the power of pink tutĂș's, the more magic in the world!

Love and tutĂș twirls,

Emma xx

A Peek into 2002-11-02

Oh, the excitement, just think we were enjoying ourselves in a world without Tik-Tok! Today, my darlings, is the second of November 2002. What a wonderful world we lived in then. Just think - Paris is all ours, no throngs of tourist’s swarming the city with selfie sticks and snapping photos with their smart phones (sorry, my friends - that’s my pet hate, my eyes still enjoy a slower pace, even in the busiest cities in the world).

Just a little reminder about today, it was the day my favorite rock band, The Killers, were released their debut album - a whole lifetime ago - can you imagine that! So today, my sweet readers, you’ve got to let loose, wear pink, twirl in your pink tutus and put “Mr Brightside” on the music player! Enjoy yourselves, just like it was 2002 and the world is a new and exciting place!

And now to the most important question of all - Have any of you been to Paris? Did you wear a pink tutu while exploring the city? What are your top Paris memories? Let me know in the comments below!
