Pink Tutu Blog: Paris - Post 216: Bonjour, Paris!

Saturday 14th February 2004

Bonjour, mes amies! This is Emma, reporting live from the City of Lights, Paris! Can you believe it? I'm in Paris! The dream has finally become a reality. This beautiful, romantic city has been calling to me for years, and I finally took the plunge.

And what a way to arrive! I hopped aboard the EuroStar, a whizzing-by chariot of glamour and efficiency. Of course, I had to pack my signature pink tutu, this time adorned with tiny Eiffel Tower charms for extra Parisian flair. It's so much fun wearing my tutu whilst travelling, and everyone seems to adore it, giggling and pointing and giving me the thumbs-up. Who doesn't love a bit of pink and sparkle?

I'm already completely enamoured with this city. Stepping off the train at Gare du Nord was like stepping into a fairytale. There were elegant Parisians everywhere, strolling with chic panache and holding croissants, just like in the movies!

Fashion, Shopping, and a Little Bit of Ballet

Since arriving, I've already spent a good deal of time immersing myself in the French fashion scene. The boutiques here are bursting with stylish delights, and I’m on a mission to find the perfect outfit for a night at the ballet. This evening, I’m seeing the Paris Opera Ballet perform Swan Lake. Just the thought of it has me practically pirouetting with excitement.

The French, oh, they know how to dress! The streets are filled with bold colours, flowing skirts, crisp coats and hats. I even saw a man with a fetching pink top hat (he clearly knows a thing or two about colour). But my favourite part about the Parisian fashion scene is how they embrace every detail: even a simple outfit can become chic and sophisticated with a well-placed scarf, a statement necklace, or even a feather boa!

Speaking of detail, my very own pink tutu is having a grand time! The fabric is a delight in this city: so light and flowing, like a Parisian breeze! It whispers as I twirl, inviting all the surrounding Parisians to join me in the graceful movement of dance.

Ballet is Life, My Friends

You see, ballet is my passion, my lifeblood. Not only do I love performing, but I also love being part of the wider ballet community. I feel a connection with all ballerinas across the globe. That’s why I save up for trips like this by dancing! Whether it’s at the local village hall, on the stage at the Royal Opera House in London, or a street performance in Derbyshire, I love to share my passion with the world. I want to show everyone the power of ballet: the grace, the artistry, the beauty and joy.

In fact, tomorrow morning, I’m planning to join a ballet class in a small studio tucked away in a charming little street, not too far from the Eiffel Tower. A dear friend of mine told me all about it. She said the class is designed for all levels, and you can actually practice your fouettes in a tutu, which sounds simply magical.

Romantic Parisian Dreams

I don’t want to bore you with details, but let’s just say that this trip has a touch of romance in the air. Paris is the city of love, after all!

So far, my biggest romance has been with the food, The Parisian pastry chefs have a magic touch. They sculpt beautiful treats, making my tastebuds swoon with every bite! I've tried a croque monsieur (I swear, it melts in your mouth), an exquisite éclair, and of course, a flaky, golden croissant! I'm still looking for the perfect pain au chocolat – the search continues!

I can’t wait to tell you more about my Parisian adventures. Join me here every Saturday for another edition of my Pink Tutu Blog. And remember, you can also find me on social media, sharing photos and stories of all things pink and tutus.

Until next week, darlings, au revoir!

Emma

P.S. If you happen to be in Paris this week, come say hello! I’m always happy to meet fellow tutu enthusiasts and fashionistas.
