#PinkTutuBlogParis - Saturday 2004-12-11: Ooh la la, Paris!
Bonjour mes chéries! It's Saturday again, so that means a new Pink Tutu Blog post! And guess where I am this week... PARIS!
You just know this trip is going to be spectacularly magnifique. After months of planning, and weeks of rehearsing for a charity gala performance, I've finally arrived in the city of lights. My travelling ballet tutu (a very pale, almost blushing pink, naturally) is still feeling the effects of the Eurostar journey, but it was worth every bit of that squashed-in feeling.
I love everything about arriving in a new city. The flurry of excitement, the sheer joy of discovering a new place. The air even smells different. Like croissants and café au lait...mmm! But for me, the best thing is watching my fellow passengers in awe of the Eiffel Tower, which we passed under on the journey. It never ceases to take my breath away.
So what's been happening this week? It's a whirlwind, let me tell you!
Monday: The first thing I did after arriving was go straight to Le Bon Marché for a little (major) shopping spree! I just can't help myself when I'm surrounded by French fashion - everything's so stylish. I even snagged myself a real Parisian pink tutu - feather boa included. I thought it was time to retire my old, trusty one! I picked up the most gorgeous, girly-girl dress in delicate peach, too, and I think my travelling ballet tutu would die with jealousy!
Tuesday: It's time for some culture. So what did I do? I joined a ballet class. Well, I almost did... until the lovely Mademoiselle Camille spotted me and my bright pink tutu! It turned out it wasn't exactly allowed. Still, I did manage to spend a delightful few hours browsing in the shops near the studio, watching the elegant Parisians go by and enjoying a pain au chocolat and café au lait in a tiny little café. Life is good!
Wednesday: Day for sightseeing! A brisk walk to the Louvre - I'm just trying to resist snapping a picture with the Mona Lisa holding my tutu in front of her. Maybe if I'm feeling brave later. Next stop was Notre Dame - how do they ever keep that beautiful place clean?! It's just amazing to see these old, ancient structures and think about all the history and stories they hold. Dinner was crepes - you know me and my weakness for anything sweet!
Thursday: It's time to see a show! And a show it is. "The Nutcracker" - performed by the world-famous Opéra National de Paris. Stunning choreography and breathtaking costumes, a true ballet-lover's dream come true! It was all I could do not to leap on stage at the end and give them a round of applause with my pink tutu on! It was an incredible performance - it's given me so much inspiration for my next show.
Friday: Time to make the most of the Paris day... but you'll just have to wait for tomorrow's blog post!
Speaking of my blog - if you haven't already, why not join the pink tutu revolution and come say hello on my website at www.pink-tutu.com! There you can read all my posts, see photos from my ballet performances and travel adventures, and even get inspiration to try on your own pink tutu!
Right, time to explore Paris even further - this time by horse! I've always dreamed of riding through the city in a carriage like the Parisians do!
So, stay tuned for tomorrow's post for more adventures! Have a wonderful weekend!
Bisous,
Emma xXx
P.S. Remember, it's never too late to add a touch of pink tutu to your life! Just saying...
