Pink Tutu Blog Paris: Post #265 – Parisian Delights (and a Dash of Pink!)
Bonjour mes chéries! It’s your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina, Emma, back with another installment from the City of Lights. It’s Saturday, 22nd January 2005 and Paris is swirling around me like a graceful pirouette. I've just stepped off the Eurostar, fresh from the rolling green hills of Derbyshire, England, ready to immerse myself in all things chic, charming, and oh-so-French.
This week, the Parisian sky is a crisp, bright blue, framing the elegant Haussmann buildings like a masterpiece. My pink tulle skirt is fluttering with delight as I soak it all in – Paris always has this effect on me. There's a magic here, a joie de vivre that simply sparkles.
My Parisian adventures begin, as always, with a pit stop at my favourite patisserie – a tiny, jewel-box of a shop on a cobbled street, with window displays like a ballerina’s dream. It’s practically a crime to resist the dainty éclairs and the buttery croissants – even when they threaten to burst my tutu!
After a deliciously pink afternoon tea, I’m off to explore the ballet scene in Paris. Today, it’s a beautiful afternoon performance at the Opéra Garnier – such grandeur! I felt as though I was being transported back in time as I entered the majestic building. The ornate details, the crystal chandeliers, and the incredible acoustics - simply breathtaking!
And then, the ballet began. The story unfolded in the most graceful of movements. Each delicate pose, every leap and turn was a poem of pure beauty. Watching those dancers move, it felt as if the whole room was dancing with them. It was simply divine. I swear, my pink tutu was swaying along to the music, my own little dance of delight!
But you know me, darling, ballet isn’t all about the big shows! The real fun for me is exploring the heart of Parisian dance, getting lost in its smaller, hidden gems. So tonight, I’m heading off to the studios on the left bank, ready for a spot of ballet barre with some local Parisian dancers. I may be a Derbyshire girl at heart, but my tutu twirls happily in every city I visit.
Speaking of tutus, did I tell you about the incredible shop I found this morning? Tucked away on a quiet side street, this vintage shop has the most amazing collection of antique and modern tutus you can imagine! I just had to buy a gorgeous black tulle tutu – you know, for a little bit of Parisian panache! I imagine wearing it with a white silk shirt, or perhaps a chic beret – so elegant and utterly French!
Later on, I'll be sharing my adventures at a small café – a hidden treasure with velvet curtains and Parisian whispers. The waiters will be charmingly cynical, the pastries will be divinely light and airy, and I’ll be surrounded by artists, writers, and fashionistas all dreaming their own Parisian dreams.
I'm going to be busy exploring the beautiful shops and soaking in the Parisian vibes this weekend. This city is all about experiencing life to the fullest, with every senses tingling. Whether it’s a leisurely stroll along the Seine, a cup of rich, aromatic coffee, or simply gazing up at the Eiffel Tower, Paris fills my soul with an unparalleled joy.
This post is just the beginning of my Paris adventures. So stay tuned, dear readers, and join me next Saturday as I delve deeper into the Parisian delights!
Remember, a little bit of pink always makes everything more fabulous. So don’t be shy, put on your tutu and embrace the Parisian magic.
Until next time, mes chéries,
Emma x
