Pink Tutu Blog Paris: Post #267 – Parisian Dreams!

Bonjour, mon cheries!

It’s Saturday, the 5th of February 2005, and the Pink Tutu is twirling in the City of Lights!

This past week has been a whirlwind of tulle and travel, culminating in a glorious arrival at Gare du Nord – all thanks to the magic of the EuroStar! Oh, the romance of it all! Riding the rails through the French countryside with the wind whipping my pink tulle (yes, even on the train, darlings!) felt utterly fabulous. It truly was the perfect start to a Parisian escapade.

As you all know, I fund my adventures through my ballet performances – a dance and a half to keep my dreams of travel alive! So, just before I hopped on the EuroStar, I wowed a Derbyshire audience with a captivating rendition of "The Dying Swan" (in a very striking fuchsia tutu, of course). I’m so grateful to those who support my passion, each ticket and round of applause brings me one step closer to my next adventure!

Now, on to the true purpose of my Parisian sojourn: A little dose of Parisian magic! This city is an explosion of inspiration - fashion, art, food, and most importantly, the graceful movements of the ballet world. It truly feels like a dream, filled with glittering lights and whispers of enchanting tales.

Speaking of enchantment, I had a divine experience on Thursday evening! My favourite Parisian ballerina, Émilienne De Fleur, performed at the Opéra Garnier. I watched as she gracefully pirouetted across the stage, her pink pointe shoes dancing with ethereal grace. Oh, the artistry of it all! The delicate choreography, the dramatic music, the sheer beauty of it... I just can't get enough! Seeing her perform solidified why I am so passionate about dance – it's a beautiful language that speaks to the soul.

Speaking of dreams come true, today I had a little sartorial treat! You know me, darlings, a bit of shopping is always essential for any pink-loving ballerina! This time I ventured into the Marais district – a hotbed of vintage delights! And oh, my goodness! A vintage boudoir in a pale peach pink caught my eye. Stepping inside, it was like being transported back to a time of romance and elegance – a little bit of Audrey Hepburn mixed with a sprinkle of Dior, if you will.

The sheer silk fabric was like a caress, the delicate laces reminded me of Parisian embroidery, and the feminine silhouettes, oh so captivating. Imagine, my loves, a soft peach silk top adorned with an antique brooch, perfectly paired with a tulle skirt that whispers like a breeze. My mind is a kaleidoscope of fashion, I tell you!

And of course, what’s a Parisian journey without exploring the cobblestone streets? Each turn of a corner, another delightful discovery – a charming patisserie overflowing with delicate pastries, a flower shop filled with vibrant roses, or a vintage bookstore filled with hidden literary treasures. And the architecture, my dear lovelies! A symphony of architectural styles, from graceful Art Deco buildings to majestic neo-classical wonders. Every step a reminder of why this city captivates me so!

The past week has been an absolute whirlwind. The journey through the French countryside, the ethereal ballet performance, the shopping delights, and the enchanting walks through the streets of Paris have left me breathless.

As for what's to come in this city of dreams? Oh, darling, it’s only just begun. The upcoming week promises more of that Parisian magic - perhaps a ballet lesson at a renowned Parisian academy, a delightful afternoon at the Louvre admiring iconic art, or a charming lunch with an artisan chocolatier. But one thing's for certain, my beloved pink tulle will be dancing its way through the cobblestone streets!

Stay tuned for next week's adventures as I continue to embrace this romantic city!

Until next Saturday, keep twirling in your pink tutus, and let your spirit soar!

Yours in pink,

Emma
