Pink Tutu Blog Paris - Post #337: Bonjour Paris!

Saturday 10th June 2006

Well, hello there, darlings! It's Emma here, ready to whisk you away to the City of Lights - Paris! This is my first Parisian adventure, and you bet your pink tutu I'm excited. I arrived this morning after a wonderfully scenic journey on the Eurostar - what a dream! So smooth and efficient.

After all, the Eurostar is the only way to travel for a real ballet ballerina on the go. No jetlag, no fussy airport security - just a peaceful glide through the English Channel and voila! I was in Paris, ready to unleash my inner fashionista.

My Paris adventure is funded by a fantastic performance last week in Derbyshire. I just love performing – it’s such a wonderful feeling to share my passion for ballet with audiences. I recently did a street performance dressed as a fairy and had so much fun. People were laughing and taking photos – it really made my day!

Now, my trip is packed with plans. It all begins with this magnificent apartment I’ve rented for the week, a charming little haven in the Latin Quarter, complete with a balcony overflowing with gorgeous geraniums! Imagine waking up to the soft morning sun filtering through the Parisian streets, the smell of fresh croissants wafting through the air, and a glorious view of the Eiffel Tower - pure bliss!

But let’s get down to the real nitty gritty - today’s all about fashion, darling! This trip wouldn't be complete without a little Parisian shopping, now would it? And speaking of shopping… drumroll… the pink tutu shop! I’m finally seeing it in person. You guys, this is HUGE! I have my heart set on a beautiful silk, pale pink tulle tutu to wear tonight - the absolute perfect outfit for my first Parisian ballet show!

The Théâtre du Châtelet - swoon! You all know I love ballet, and this theatre is one of the most iconic in the world. They're showing ‘Giselle’ tonight, and I'm practically bouncing out of my skin!

Shopping in Paris

After my whirlwind exploration of the pink tutu shop, where I felt like a little girl in a candy store (only pink, of course), I headed off to explore the chic boulevards and boutiques of the 8th arrondissement. My mission: a little bit of Paris in my wardrobe!

Firstly, darling, we cannot possibly ignore Chanel. Yes, I had to succumb to the iconic elegance of that most fashionable of fashion houses. It’s impossible to enter without a rush of excitement. The shop on Rue Cambon - oh, darling! - I bought a stunning silk scarf with a pale pink bow, and I'm practically floating on a cloud! It will look perfect tied around the handle of my little Chanel bag, for a touch of elegance that truly speaks Parisian chic.

Now, I may be wearing pink tutus, but my heart also belongs to high-fashion! A stop at Dior, nestled amongst the charming streets of Avenue Montaigne, was essential. There I found the most darling dress for our visit to Versailles on Tuesday - I simply cannot resist a little bit of French flair. The colour? Oh, my darling, it’s the softest shade of pink - you can never go wrong with a touch of rose!

A peek into Lanvin next - another fabulous discovery! A divine silk dress, the perfect shade of powder blue with dainty sequins - just for that touch of sparkle in the evening. Oh, and did I mention the stunning little lace bolero? So sophisticated.

But it’s not all about the big-name brands. Parisian charm lives in the independent shops tucked away on cobbled streets - think hand-stitched gloves, exquisite vintage brooches, and whimsical antique buttons. Oh my darling, those little gems are treasure-troves waiting to be unearthed! I did find a darling silver, beaded beret to add to my collection - and it's going to look divine with a pale pink tutu, wouldn't you say?

And of course, I simply cannot go to Paris without finding a charming vintage bookstore tucked away on a quiet street! Books in a different language, dusty, and aged, with the aroma of coffee and history in the air... This is pure Parisian charm!

French Food and Delight

Now, darling, I can’t mention Paris without mentioning food! A trip to Paris wouldn’t be complete without the perfect pain au chocolat from my local boulangerie, freshly baked and dusted with sugar. The croissant? The soft, buttery crunch as you bite into its fluffy layers - sheer heaven!

And for dinner, I had a decadent spread of fresh oysters, scallops and salmon - the seafood in Paris is incredible. Followed by a heavenly Crème brûlée for dessert - the sweet caramel top shattering with a gentle tap, that moment is pure bliss! All washed down with a glass of fine French wine, naturally!

But today is Saturday - a perfect Parisian Saturday. A long lazy brunch is a must with an oversized cappuccino and pain au chocolat for company! And my evening - well, let’s just say it will be truly magical.

A Tutu for the City of Lights

This evening, my outfit is everything pink tutu. As the city twinkles to life, I'm planning on a perfect pink outfit - that stunning silk, pale pink tulle tutu and a chic, simple black top with a black leather jacket and of course, my pearl necklace! That perfect combination of classic elegance and whimsical sparkle. You know, ballet doesn't only belong on stage - it can be in the streets, in the museums, in cafes - let's bring some pink tutu joy to this fabulous city.

Off to the Show

Paris, you've already enchanted me, with your streets, your shops, your sights. The Théâtre du Châtelet awaits, and this pink tutu ballerina is ready for a magical evening. My Parisian adventures continue!

Au revoir, darling! And remember - embrace the pink tutu life, darling!

Until next week,

Emma
