#PinkTutuBlogParis - Saturday 2006-11-11: Paris, Mon Amour!

Bonjour mes amies! It's Emma here, and I'm so thrilled to be writing this post from the magical city of Paris! This is post number 359 on my Pink Tutu Blog, and as always, I'm brimming with Parisian adventures to share with you all.

This week, I took the Eurostar - that elegant, sleek silver train - right from my doorstep in Derbyshire to the heart of Paris. I've always loved train journeys, something about that rhythmic clatter of the wheels and the countryside whizzing by fills me with excitement and a touch of that "onward, into the unknown!" feeling. But what can I say, I'm a bit of a romantic at heart.

Speaking of romance, Paris! There's something absolutely captivating about this city - the grand avenues, the quaint little streets, the cobblestones, the gorgeous architecture…and the shopping! giggles. I had to spend at least an hour admiring the dazzling window displays in the Marais. Talk about a window-shopping heaven!

But first, Ballet! My reason for being in Paris? Well, to be honest, the reason is always ballet, darling! I'm absolutely devoted to this art form - not only in the grand theatres, but in the beautiful studios, and even on the streets with ballet flash mobs. (Yes, even in Paris!) This weekend I had the pleasure of seeing the incredible "La Bayadere" at the Palais Garnier, a breathtaking ballet spectacle! My jaw actually dropped when the scenery rose on stage - such grandeur, and the costumes... divine! (And of course, all the lovely ladies wearing tutus.)

This week's Pink Tutu outfit choice for the Garnier? My beloved custom-made, full-length pink tutu, hand-sequined with thousands of sparkling pink and silver sequins! I couldn't resist adding a chic black velvet jacket to keep warm and a little touch of Paris's edgy glamour. The tutu is, after all, all about bringing a little magic to every moment, don't you think?

After the performance, my trusty steed (I'm talking about a beautiful, black Hackney cab) whisked me away to the most divine little pâtisserie I found, where I had the most delicious macarons, which were light as a feather and so flavourful. I simply had to buy a box to bring home to share with my mum.

But back to Paris! Have you ever seen the City of Lights sparkle? Honestly, even the streetlamps create this magical atmosphere. Last night I walked along the Seine, mesmerised by the way the lights reflected on the river. I sat down for a while and sketched in my travel journal - I love to capture memories that way, like a personal time capsule filled with colour and detail. Paris has a way of inspiring you, wouldn't you say?

Today I'm heading back to the Marais for some serious shopping. The last time I was here, I bought a vintage pink beaded clutch for my Mum and she loved it. I must tell you, there are some real treasures hidden in the tiny boutiques along the narrow streets! My mission today? Find something special for myself and maybe for my lovely blog readers (shh! It's a secret!).

Paris is always on my mind, you know? It's just one of those places you feel drawn back to time and time again, like an irresistible force. There's something magical about the city that just draws you in.

P.S. I can't leave you without mentioning the famous Montmartre and Sacré-Coeur. I climbed the stairs up to the top of the Basilica, my heart swelling with pride. The view from the top? Magnifique. Even after many trips to Paris, there's always something new to discover and love! It's this little slice of Parisian magic I hope to capture for you each week here on Pink Tutu Blog. So, join me on this whirlwind adventure as I discover all that this enchanting city has to offer. Let's twirl our way through Paris together!
