Pink Tutu Blog - Paris, Post #361: A Whirlwind of Parisian Dreams (and a Dash of Pink!)

Bonjour, mes amis! Emma here, fresh from a whirlwind trip to the City of Lights, where pink tutus definitely took centre stage (much to the delight of some and the bemusement of others!). I have to say, Paris is the most fabulous city to indulge my inner ballerina and, oh, the shopping! But, let’s start at the beginning, shall we?

It all began with a whisper on the Eurostar, its sleek nose leading us through the emerald countryside of my dear Derbyshire and straight into the heart of France. There's something quite magical about travelling by train; you get to see the world slide by at a leisurely pace, making the anticipation of reaching Paris even sweeter. And, let's be honest, any excuse to wear a fabulous tutu is a good one, and train travel calls for nothing less than a cascading cloud of tulle in a most delightful shade of pink, of course.

My trusty camera was primed and ready to capture the sights and sounds of Paris, a city overflowing with beauty and history. I had a feeling it would be a perfect spot to add some fabulous pink tutu photographs to my ever-growing collection, and I wasn't wrong!

Saturday was all about soaking up the Parisian energy. I decided to kick off the day with a visit to the enchanting Palais Garnier, the majestic home of the Paris Opera. Seeing that incredible building was simply breath-taking - all gilded details, soaring staircases and an atmosphere that practically hummed with creative energy. It felt like I had stepped into one of the most beautiful fairytales.

After a brief detour to indulge in a delicious pastry at a charming cafe (pastries and ballet always go hand in hand!), I set my sights on a ballet class. My legs, admittedly, were still a bit wobbly from the train journey, but the sheer excitement of dancing in Paris, especially in a beautiful tutu, gave me an extra bounce in my step.

My Parisian ballet class was hosted by a delightful little studio tucked away in a charming courtyard, and it was a joy to dance alongside Parisians of all ages. I learned a new exercise sequence (all those delicate demi-pliés, and grand jetés, the perfect Parisian way to work those ballet muscles!) and it was simply divine.

Then, after a quick wardrobe change back into my tutu-adorned ensemble, I set out on an exploration of the Latin Quarter. Now, any true pink tutu enthusiast knows that Parisian fashion is all about flair, colour and, most importantly, a love for life. So, naturally, I felt completely at home among the lively shops and bustling cafes. The sheer abundance of pink and my insatiable appetite for gorgeous vintage pieces led me straight into a darling little vintage clothing store tucked away on a cobblestoned side street. I emerged clutching a vibrant vintage kimono (perfect for twirling in, of course), and a truly decadent pair of red ballet slippers, their crimson shade perfectly complementing the tulle of my favourite tutu.

Speaking of tutus, it wouldn’t be a Pink Tutu Blog post without some seriously adorable tutu outfit ideas. My outfit today? It all revolved around a fluffy, cerulean tutu, with its tiers cascading all the way down to my ankles. Paired with a classic white shirt (a touch of Parisian chic!), a vintage black beret and my trusty crimson ballet shoes, this outfit was simply magnifique! And let's not forget about the little touches of pink! A dainty pink scarf tied around my neck and a smattering of pink jewels around my wrists made the entire look positively whimsical.

Saturday night in Paris is magical, and I wasn’t going to let it pass me by without catching a spectacular show. A little bit of research on the internet and I found the perfect place – the Moulin Rouge. I mean, how could I possibly resist a glimpse into this Parisian legend? This iconic theatre's neon-lit facade and its shimmering can-can costumes make for a visual feast. There's just something about a room full of talented dancers showcasing their artistry in a spectacular light show - it's almost enough to make you want to leap onto the stage yourself (especially with a little help from a vibrant pink tutu!).

The show, of course, was dazzling! My favourite scene was one where the can-can girls transformed from their iconic feathers and glitter into a mesmerizing, modern ballet ensemble. Their effortless movement and the subtle shifts in the lighting made for a breathtaking experience. It really reminded me why I adore ballet so much - it's truly an art form capable of capturing emotions in such a powerful and elegant way.

Sunday was all about exploring more of this city I'd grown so attached to. In the morning, I stumbled upon a little secret: A quaint café serving the most incredible croissants I've ever tasted, accompanied by steaming cups of coffee and an array of jams. You can't visit Paris without indulging in the classic Parisian pastries.

Then it was on to the Louvre! Now, I don't think I've ever been so surrounded by beauty and artistry. Of course, my heart fluttered at the sight of the Mona Lisa, her mysterious smile captivating all who gazed upon her. But there was something incredibly moving about simply wandering through the vast galleries and admiring all the incredible works of art. I could practically feel the weight of history clinging to every brushstroke, every sculpture.

Sunday afternoon, my feet were dancing with excitement – the Grand Palais was hosting a fabulous fashion show. My heart raced at the sight of all those dazzling clothes on display! Some of them felt practically inspired by my love of pink and tutus - fluffy ruffles, a smattering of delicate tulle and even some pink feathers made an appearance, much to my delight!

My Parisian adventure was drawing to a close, but not before I indulged in a final, exquisite French dinner. The menu at the charming little restaurant featured the freshest ingredients and I knew this would be my final meal in Paris – for now! With each mouthful of delicious food and each sip of delicious wine, I felt myself falling more in love with this charming city.

As the Eurostar swept me back towards the UK, I couldn't help but reflect on all the wonderful moments I'd experienced in Paris. It was a journey full of pink tulle, graceful ballet moves, stunning fashion shows, delectable pastries and the sheer joy of being enveloped by a city steeped in beauty and history.

As always, thank you for coming along on this magical Parisian escapade.
