Pink Tutu Blog - Paris, Post #369: The City of Lights, a Ballet Lover's Paradise!

Bonjour, darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing blogger, Emma, here, and guess what? I'm in Paris! Cue the squeals and the confetti!

The Eurostar whisked me away to this city of dreams this week, and believe me, the journey was as fabulous as the destination! Nothing beats that elegant whizzing through the French countryside, a touch of Parisian chic swirling through the carriage with the scent of lavender and a touch of old world glamour in the air. Oh, and I was wearing my brand new cherry blossom pink tutu with little sequined stars - so, obviously, it was a triumph of style!

So, what's on my Paris itinerary? Well, naturally, I have to take in as much ballet as humanly possible. Paris is a true Mecca for dance enthusiasts - the Palais Garnier Opera House is simply breathtaking! It's not just the ballets that enthral, though. Paris oozes glamour and that sense of refined style that makes it the perfect setting for anything artistic, elegant, or just plain fun. I'm so smitten, you guys!

This weekend, I’ve been devouring everything Parisian with a big, pink-tutu-adorned spoon. Here’s the juicy bit about my adventure…

Saturday, 20th January 2007

This Saturday dawned bright and, dare I say it, even slightly pink over Paris. I decided to take advantage of this sunny morning to explore the Montmartre district, a whimsical maze of cobbled streets and artists’ studios. There I am, twirling my way through the boulevards of Pigalle, like a pink-clad butterfly, when suddenly… there she is! My muse, the very essence of Parisian chic! A stunning woman wearing the most beautiful emerald green dress, accessorised by, you guessed it - a bright pink feather boa! I knew then that I’d fallen for this city irrevocably. The colour combination, the confident air, the pure joy radiating from that emerald-green vision...I just knew that my blog needs to inspire every woman, from all walks of life, to own their style, even if it's just adding a little dash of pink!

From the artists’ workshops, I headed towards Sacré-Coeur Basilica, a glorious white monument perched on top of the hill. The view of the city, glistening beneath a cloudless sky, took my breath away. My dear Derbyshire might be lovely, but it simply doesn't compare to the majesty of Paris.

In the afternoon, I hit the shops, of course. The vintage boutiques and independent stores around Le Marais are just divine! I picked up some gorgeous ballet-inspired accessories and, you know, some essential pink garments because… a girl can never have too many, right? Later on, I enjoyed an evening of ballet at the Opéra Garnier. I don’t want to spoil the surprises for anyone who might be visiting the city soon (trust me, you have to go!) but let's just say, there was a dream sequence set to Chopin's "Nocturne in E-flat major", with a tutu so grand it must have been hand-made by the angels. Swoon!

Food Glorious Food

No Parisian trip would be complete without a proper Parisian feast. On Friday evening, I tried the most delicious crêpe ever - with chocolate, caramel and fresh raspberries, all nestled in the fluffiest dough you’ve ever tasted. Honestly, it was a divine combination of flavours.

Today, after all the excitement, I took a break at the lovely little boulangerie on my street, just a few steps from my darling hotel, to have a croissant (yes, I know I’m meant to be in Paris but the croissant game in Derbyshire isn't quite up there...yet). This was not your average croissant though. It was a thing of flaky, golden perfection, a true symphony of buttery, flaky deliciousness!

The Parisian Ballet Life

Even if you're not into dance, there’s magic to be found in the air of Paris. The ballet companies, the ateliers, the shops - they're all teeming with this inspiring, creative energy. There’s a passion in Paris, for art, for fashion, for beauty…that gets under your skin. You walk along the cobbled streets, feeling like you’re part of something bigger than yourself. It's truly intoxicating.

A Week in Pictures:

You're all itching for some visual treats, aren't you? Well, buckle up, because I'm about to share some glimpses into this incredible journey:

[Emma uploads multiple photos showcasing her trip:

  • A selfie of her in her pink tutu with a wide smile, her bag sporting a Paris print, and the Eiffel Tower visible in the background.
  • A photo of a vintage-inspired ballet outfit, showcasing a beautiful soft pink leotard with a delicate tutu attached, accented with tiny, glittering pink bows.
  • A photo of Emma with an enormous slice of chocolate croissant in front of a bakery with charming pink and white decor.
  • A picture of her browsing in a vintage clothing shop, showing rows of colorful clothing on racks, and Emma pointing at a vintage pearl-trimmed ballet top with glee.
  • A photo of her at the ballet performance, with a glamorous backstage feel, showcasing gorgeous dancers in beautifully elaborate costumes, lit by dramatic spotlights.
  • A picture of a vibrant pink macaroon, shot from above with an artsy style against a cafe table decorated with pink paper doilies.]

I'm already thinking of my next visit. This week in Paris has ignited a passion for Parisian chic and fuelled a strong desire to inspire more people to twirl with confidence and colour! You can do it, darlings! Find your perfect tutu and show the world that even a little bit of pink can make all the difference!

And, just so you know, I'm also in the process of trying to find the best ballet shoes for my new pink tutu. It wouldn't be me if I didn't turn it into a ballet-inspired fashion adventure, would it?

Till next Saturday, darlings! Stay beautiful, stay creative, stay pink!

With a twirl and a sprinkle of fairy dust,

Emma xo
