Pink Tutu Blog Paris - Post Number 379: Bonjour, Paris!

Saturday 31st March 2007

Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to Paris and ready to share every glittering detail with you all. This week's post is all about Parisian glamour, a touch of tulle, and the most exquisite ballet I've seen in ages!

First things first, you know how much I adore a good train journey. And the Eurostar is definitely a top-notch experience, a magical journey gliding across the English Channel and into the heart of Paris. The anticipation building with each click-clack of the wheels, and then that breathtaking first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower as we rolled into the Gare du Nord... sheer magic!

The City of Lights, In All Its Glory

Landing in Paris is like stepping into a fairytale. The cobblestone streets, the chic cafes overflowing with laughter, the charming shops tucked away on hidden streets - everything about Paris sings to my soul. And let's not forget those Parisian ladies! Their effortless style, the way they wear those beautiful colours with such confidence... a total inspiration!

As soon as I stepped out of the train station, I knew this trip was going to be extraordinary. And you know what's even better? It's officially springtime here! Paris is blossoming in the most gorgeous hues of pink and lilac, and the air is full of sunshine and that intoxicating scent of freshly baked bread and blooming cherry trees. It's honestly heavenly!

Pink Power on the Streets of Paris

Naturally, my Parisian wardrobe is bursting with pink! A touch of blush here, a splash of coral there - I just couldn't resist incorporating all the pretty pastels that were inspiring me at every corner.

For my first full day in Paris, I chose a darling little pink tutu dress with a delicate lace trim. I paired it with a pair of knee-high pink boots and my favourite sparkly pink headband. Feeling completely and utterly Parisian! I know, some might think a pink tutu is a bit out there for Paris, but honestly, I believe it adds a little touch of whimsy to the city's already beautiful vibe. Let's be honest, a pink tutu never fails to turn heads and bring a smile to people's faces, and in a place as stylish as Paris, well, you just can't beat that!

A Dance Through the City of Love

Now, you all know how much I love ballet. And this trip to Paris wasn't going to be complete without a visit to the exquisite Palais Garnier, the grand home of the Paris Opera Ballet. My dear friend Charlotte, a fellow ballerina who lives in Paris, joined me for a dazzling performance of "Giselle." It was an unforgettable experience! The set design, the costumes, the artistry - everything about it was utterly breathtaking!

There is just something magical about being surrounded by the vibrant energy of dancers, music, and a captivated audience. I swear I could feel the entire building trembling with every graceful step and pirouette. And then, there was that heart-stopping final moment where Giselle dies and her spirit finds peace… oh, the tears I cried! I'm a sucker for a good ballet drama, what can I say?

Shopping Spree in the City of Fashion

Of course, no Parisian adventure is complete without a bit of retail therapy! Now, I'm no stranger to a good shopping spree, but there's something about the chic boutiques in Paris that really makes my heart skip a beat.

I absolutely fell in love with the designer clothes in a gorgeous little shop called "Les Fleurs," tucked away in the heart of the Marais district. And the selection of shoes - don't even get me started! From delicate ballet pumps in the most divine colours to those fierce heels that can turn heads across a room, it was a shopper's paradise!

Parisian Pastries & Delicious Delights

There's a good chance that, besides dancing, my favourite activity is eating delicious treats. And I've got to tell you, Parisian pastries are like no other! So far, I've tried everything from flaky croissants and pain au chocolat to melt-in-your-mouth macarons in every colour imaginable. Oh, and let's not forget the beautiful cafe au lait, perfectly served in those charming Parisian cafes.

Evening Magic at the Moulin Rouge

Tonight, I am off to experience another iconic Parisian night. Tonight is the Moulin Rouge. I'm not sure how I will sleep tonight. The idea of being in a cabaret watching can-can dancers and acrobatic performers has my little pink heart bouncing in my chest!

Oh, darlings, I wish you were all here with me to share this enchanting journey! But hey, at least I can share all the excitement with you right here on Pink Tutu Blog Paris! Stay tuned for my next blog post about my night at the Moulin Rouge and other adventures I’ll find in the City of Love!

**Sending lots of pink kisses from Paris,

Emma x**
