Pink Tutu Paris – Post #406: Oh, la la! Paris in Pink!
Saturday 6th October 2007
Bonjour mes amies!
The EuroStar whisked me away to the City of Lights this week and I am swooning! Paris has stolen my heart with its romance, its elegance, and…well, let’s face it, it’s simply gorgeous! I just know it’s going to be the perfect setting for a Pink Tutu takeover, and you lovely lot can join me for the ride!
I must admit, I arrived a bit giddy with excitement, a touch of jetlag, and wearing my favourite pink tutu – of course! It was an absolute dream hopping onto that train at St Pancras station and feeling the anticipation build with every mile we flew towards France. You know how much I adore train journeys!
But nothing could have prepared me for that moment when I stepped off the EuroStar in Paris…that first breath of the Parisian air, that first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower…pure magic!
Shopping like a ParisianAs soon as my suitcase was settled in at the hotel (I chose a charming little place with lace curtains and a view of the Seine - absolutely perfect!), I was off exploring. My mission? To find the perfect Parisian pink tutu to take me to the most fabulous places in this stunning city!
I spent hours wandering through the charming streets, gazing at all the vintage clothing boutiques and antique shops. Everything felt so chic and elegant…it was a little overwhelming, to be honest. And I must confess, my eyes did start to get a bit blurry after about two hours – there is a lot of gorgeous fashion in this city!
My prize? A magnificent pink tulle tutu – all wispy and delicate, with intricate detailing at the waist – perfectly Parisian! She is the ultimate Parisian statement piece – I simply can’t wait to show you all!
Dance DelightsNo trip to Paris would be complete without a spectacular ballet performance, right? So of course I had to book tickets to see Swan Lake! It’s one of my all-time favourite ballets. You know how much I love all things dance and ballet. It's the art form that speaks to me, my tutu-wearing soul, and the entire energy of this city!
The Opera Garnier…oh, the beauty! It felt like I’d been transported into a fairy tale. Imagine, the opulent decor, the ornate chandeliers – truly stunning. And the ballet itself was simply breathtaking! The grace of the dancers, the precision of the choreography…a true masterpiece. I must go again while I’m here. It’s simply mesmerising! And even though I love performing my own solo dances at the ballet school in Derbyshire, seeing the professionals really makes you appreciate the dedication and talent it takes to reach this level!
A Pink Tutu Walk Around ParisAfter the ballet, it was time to experience Paris with my new tutu in tow! The Eiffel Tower was my first stop, of course, glowing under the evening sky. You really can see Paris in a tutu! It makes the world a little brighter!
From the top, I took in the dazzling city lights – they twinkled like diamonds sprinkled across a velvet sky! I couldn't resist a twirl. What’s a pink tutu for, if not a twirl?! Paris begged for it, just like every city I visit.
Next, I strolled along the Seine. Paris is full of surprises. Each bend, each bridge, each glimpse of a charming little cafe feels so magical. And I had my favourite beret (of course!), my matching pink shoes, and my pink tulle tutu. So elegant, so stylish…Parisian fashion just seems to seep into you. I am smitten.
Later, we stopped at a café and I indulged in a delicious pain au chocolat. It’s much better here in Paris. They are so flaky and buttery! You just don't get those same flavors in Derbyshire.
The most important thing: Paris really is a place where you can just be yourself! It's welcoming and exciting and everyone wears their own personal style, whether that's classic Parisian chic, bold Parisian trends, or just a comfy, chic Parisian look - anything goes. I actually met the most charming artist who had been commissioned to design some costumes for an upcoming performance and was sketching his ideas at a local cafe… we spent the entire afternoon chatting over coffee! He had never even heard of ballet! You have to love Paris!
Pink Tutu Takeover! This weekend was a reminder that Pink Tutu isn’t just about dance, it’s about embracing joy and finding magic in every corner of the world, wherever you are. I’m dreaming of pink tutus adorning every woman in the world! Why can't we wear our most favourite colours, show off our love for fun fashion and dance, and simply delight each other? It's definitely something to think about.
Paris has given me the inspiration to take things a step further…to encourage more pink, more joy, and more fabulous moments. And who knows, perhaps next week’s blog post will reveal just how I plan to spread the Pink Tutu love all around the world! Stay tuned…
Au revoir for now, darlings!
