Pink Tutu Blog Paris - Post #409 - 27th October 2007: Bonjour from the City of Lights!
Oh la la! It's Emma here, back from the most magical trip to Paris, a city I’ve dreamt of visiting since I was a little girl. I can’t even begin to describe the feeling of finally stepping off the EuroStar and onto Parisian soil. I’ve been so busy taking in all the sights and smells (those croissants! They’re a bit of heaven!) I hardly had time to catch my breath, let alone write this post.
This week’s post is a special one, though, as I wanted to share every detail of this magnificent adventure with you, my lovely readers. I arrived on Tuesday, and already, my mind is overflowing with gorgeous photos of cobbled streets, grand buildings, and the most charming cafés you can imagine. Paris, you truly are a dream!
Day 1: A Fashion Frenzy
As soon as I got to my hotel, I couldn’t wait to ditch my suitcase and hit the streets! Of course, I knew the perfect outfit for this first Parisian exploration - my vibrant pink tutu, naturally, paired with a black velvet bolero for a touch of chic Parisian flair. A dash of rouge on my lips, and I was ready to embrace the city of romance!
My first stop was a detour down a little street lined with fashion boutiques – divine! Oh, the clothes! I tried on so many stunning outfits, but my absolute favourite was a shimmering blush-pink gown. I imagined twirling on a Parisian street, its silky skirt billowing in the wind. Imagine! I can just picture it. It was too expensive for me right now, but that doesn’t mean I’m giving up! Maybe next time, oh darling, maybe next time…
Day 2: Opera Bliss
Every trip to Paris requires a night at the opera. Let's just say I had an unforgettable time watching a production of "Carmen," with its passionate singing and fiery storytelling. The entire atmosphere was captivating, and it even inspired me to take some dance notes, which I plan to weave into a future performance (ahem, hint hint - keep your eyes peeled!).
Oh, and let’s not forget the food! We dined on a three-course meal, the star of the show being a delicate snail soup - oh my, I was nervous but then surprised, I must admit it tasted surprisingly delicious!
Day 3: Ballet Paradise
On Wednesday, I treated myself to a ballet class at the Palais Garnier - a must-do for any ballet fanatic like me. The grand old building itself felt steeped in history, and I danced amongst other ballet enthusiasts. It was almost magical, and it gave me renewed energy to put everything I've learned into practice.
The day was punctuated by an evening of live street ballet. You may be surprised to know that Paris is a vibrant hub for ballet performances. After my ballet class, I met up with other local dancers for a show-stopping street dance near the Eiffel Tower.
Day 4: Pink Paris Fashionista
With my favourite pink tutu tucked safely in my suitcase, I felt completely inspired and ready to showcase my personal style! I spent the day weaving through the Parisian streets, admiring the local fashion. So many beautiful Parisian women, their style, elegance, and poise were quite impressive. It is the city of chic after all.
In the evening, I took a delightful horse-drawn carriage ride, winding through the streets, passing iconic sights, like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the Arc de Triomphe. Paris really has it all! The views from the carriage were absolutely spectacular - and of course, the ride was made extra special by the elegant grey steed that took me through the city streets.
Day 5: The Eiffel Tower Moment
On Friday, the Eiffel Tower had to be a part of my Paris itinerary, and let me tell you, seeing it for the first time was even more incredible than I could have imagined. My head nearly exploded, seeing the twinkling lights on the Eiffel Tower. They said the lights are beautiful from the ground, but, being there myself, oh my - there’s no substitute for experiencing it live! The lights sparkled and shimmered like a thousand little stars, so beautiful!
Then there’s the iconic Eiffel Tower view, with the City of Lights spread out before you like a grand tableau, shimmering and alive! I just couldn’t help but spin with my pink tutu, the Eiffel Tower twirling behind me! Oh, the beauty, the majesty, the inspiration! It was the perfect end to my incredible adventure in Paris.
Coming Up…
So, as I leave this enchanting city behind, my heart is filled with sweet memories. I can’t wait to share all the adventures of my trip with you. It's all going on the website and into my ballet performances.
Before you go, darling readers, I have a very important request. Have you ever thought about wearing a pink tutu? Let’s be honest, they are truly a magnificent accessory, so don't let me down, try one, you'll be glad you did, I promise.
Catch you next week on Saturday! Au revoir from Paris,
Emma. x
