Pink Tutu Paris - Post 422: Bonjour, Paris!

Saturday 26th January, 2008

Bonjour, mes amies! This week I'm in the City of Lights, oh-la-la, Paris! I feel like a fairytale princess as I'm writing this, sat in a charming cafe next to a fountain, my favourite pink tutu swirling gently around me. I travelled by EuroStar, the smooth glide of the train leaving me feeling totally relaxed and ready to embrace all that Parisian magic. And Paris always delivers!

From the moment I arrived at Gare du Nord, the iconic Parisian charm kicked in. This city breathes fashion and style. The Parisian women here are seriously inspiring - they carry themselves with such confidence, their outfits flawlessly chic, and they wear a touch of whimsy, which I absolutely adore.

Speaking of confidence, my Parisian tutu ensemble today has turned heads everywhere! My pink tulle creation, oh so delicate, sparkled in the Parisian sun. Paired with my new pearl necklace, I felt a little like a ballerina swan floating amongst the Parisian swans! They say the Parisians are fashionably austere, but the people are so incredibly welcoming, the moment they saw me twirling with joy they gave me the warmest smiles. It’s always such a privilege to see a little pink tulle lift people's spirits and remind them of the magic in the world. It's all about celebrating our unique, individual flair!

Yesterday I was at the Théâtre du Châtelet for a spectacular ballet performance by the Ballet de l'Opéra de Paris. I'm a sucker for classical ballet. It's the ultimate in graceful storytelling. But oh my goodness, it wasn't just the choreography, although that was utterly mesmerising! It was the costumes! The women danced in tutus so impossibly white they seemed to glow in the stage light, their movements as graceful as a single, falling petal. I couldn't help but dreamily spin around in my own pink tutu and channel their elegant energy.

Speaking of energy, today's adventures included an early morning stroll around the Tuileries Garden. I spent the morning gazing at the beautiful scenery, people watching, and catching some rays! I love those warm bursts of sunshine that the Parisians enjoy so much.

Of course, I couldn't resist a spot of shopping in the charming boutiques nestled between the cafes on the Rue Saint-Honoré this afternoon. The streets are overflowing with charming stores bursting with colourful, vibrant textiles, luxurious silks and Parisian flair. My latest purchase - a delicate lace shawl with silver threads to match my newest pink tutu. And it’s going to look perfectly divine for the upcoming performance at the Opéra Garnier! I can already imagine it shimmering under the glittering chandelier.

Talking of my performance at the Opéra Garnier, that's why I'm here in Paris, my dears. I'm actually performing there on Tuesday. I always feel nervous and excited, which adds to the magic, you know? A bit like when you stand behind the curtains at the ballet before the performance and wait for the music to start. Your stomach flip flops, but it's a beautiful sensation, you just want the curtain to open and take it all in. The magic and the thrill. I'm performing "Le Lac des Cygnes" (Swan Lake). It’s one of my favourite ballet pieces, it just makes you feel elegant and timeless. I can’t wait! I'll be sure to take lots of pictures!

But before that, there’s so much more I want to experience here in Paris! This evening I plan on heading to a street performance by the Seine, followed by a delicious dinner in a quaint little bistro. This evening is dedicated to soaking up the magic of this iconic city.

There are also museums, art galleries and so many charming cafes that need exploring. Not to mention the stunning Notre Dame Cathedral which I plan on visiting on Sunday! It will be amazing to step back in time and appreciate the beauty and architectural grandeur. It's the kind of place that reminds me of those fairytales from my childhood.

You see, dear readers, life is truly about the little things, and sometimes, the biggest things! Whether it's wearing a pink tutu, performing for a full house, or simply enjoying a stroll through the Tuileries Gardens, each experience brings us a little closer to fulfilling our own inner ballerina.

So keep dancing, my dears! Don’t forget to be confident, have fun and keep the magic alive! Until next week, au revoir from the City of Lights.

Bisous, Emma
