Pink Tutu Paris: Post 424 - Whirlwind Weekend in the City of Lights!
Bonjour mes amies! Itās Emma here, and guess what? I'm in the most magical city in the world! Paris, baby! This week's Pink Tutu Blog has been whisked away by EuroStar, a little whirlwind adventure with the Eiffel Tower shimmering in the background as I type. It's my 424th post from Paris, and as always, I'm ready to share the Parisian magic with you all!
Iām sitting in the cutest little Parisian cafe with my favourite hot chocolate, the warm froth making me think of swirling tutus. My hair is swept up in a messy bun with a glittery pink ribbon, of course, and my outfit is a perfect symphony of blush pink. The dress is a delicate lace, twirling around my knees just like a ballerina's skirt, with a chic Parisian beret and matching ballerina flats. It's all very 'je ne sais quoi', if you know what I mean. š
The last few days have been a blur of charming Parisian moments. It feels as though Paris itself is wearing a delicate pink tutu, everything feels lighter, softer, moreā¦ fabulous!
The Journey to Paris:
You all know that travelling is an essential part of any ballet dancerās life! The Eurostar whizzed us across the Channel in record time. We boarded from the charming village of St. Pancras, it was almost like entering a fairytale with the magnificent architecture surrounding us. I loved the way the light glinted off the crystal chandeliers and I managed to catch the Eye of London gleaming in the distance. It felt like the start of an extraordinary adventure.
We even encountered a charming, impeccably dressed man with his little dachshund. She wore the cutest pink tutu! I swear I nearly squealed. My aim, as you know, is to encourage everyone to wear a pink tutu and spread the joy and grace of a ballerina everywhere I go. One tutu at a time, eh? š©°
Saturday - Shopping & SoirƩe
Now, you can't go to Paris without indulging in a little retail therapy, can you? First stop, the glorious Galeries Lafayette, the iconic Parisian department store that's just begging to be explored. Itās practically a symphony of pink, a dancer's dreamland. I picked up some gorgeous new ballet shoes ā a pair of classic pink satin pointes, perfect for my upcoming performances and, of course, a couple of pairs of gorgeous black satin flats for strolling around Paris in style.
But no trip to Paris is complete without a spot of theatre, and this Saturday night Iām whisked away to see an utterly spectacular production at the ThĆ©Ć¢tre de Paris! Iām so excited, a famous Parisian ballet company, a brand new ballet - the programme says āA Journey to the Heart of Parisā. Ooh la la!
Sunday - Le Palais Garnier and The Magic of Ballet
This morning, we were lucky enough to be guided through the magical, and ridiculously glamorous, Palais Garnier ā home to the famous Paris Opera. Everything about the theatre screamed grand and dramatic, ornate ceilings, glittering chandeliers, plush red velvet seats. It's a ballet lover's dreamland. You can practically imagine the stars of yesteryear strutting across its iconic stage!
There's something so beautiful about how dance transports us. Itās about expression, elegance and feeling. It transcends language and even transcends time!
In the afternoon we attended the famous āOpen Houseā at the Ćcole de Danse. This wonderful tradition takes place each year where students show off what they've learned in their year's studies. It's an amazing opportunity to watch some of the most talented young dancers take centre stage! The auditorium buzzed with excitement as I watched young ballerinas perform in their lovely pink tutus. They danced with so much heart, precision and passion, It really set my heart on fire and reminded me of the joy of dancing!
I spent the rest of the afternoon browsing the cute boutiques around the Champs ĆlysĆ©es. Can I get away with buying anything sparkly and pink? Of course, I can.
Monday ā An Ode to Elegance
Ah, Mondays, the day where all things fashionable truly shine. After a long, delightful morning browsing Parisian antique shops and boutiques I found myself headed for one of Parisā most famous couture salons - a house known for its timeless elegance and dramatic creations! My goal was to find the perfect gown to wear for a upcoming performance and maybe a few pieces for my blog and my latest ballet shoot in Derbyshire. (Fingers crossed my little photoshoot with Derby Countyās footballers turns out well, letās just say they donāt seem as confident wearing pink tutusā¦ the cheeky little devils! )
But alas, it seems that being pink isn't as common in Paris' high-end salons as I thought. Most of the gowns are a monochrome black with the occasional splash of crimson. Sigh! Still, I love watching the exquisite fabrics unfold and feel their decadent textures, and I learned some valuable Parisian secrets on styling! I managed to find a stunning midnight-blue lace evening gown with a delicate black feather trim. And it had to come home with meā¦ because everyone needs a little bit of parisian glamour, am I right?
Pink Tutu Paris: Always Magical!
And that, my loves, was my weekend in the city of lights! My week has been overflowing with so much beauty, elegant fashion and grace. Every corner of Paris feels enchanting, the cafĆ© culture, the beautiful cobbled streets, the glistening Seine River flowing majestically through the cityā¦it all feels like an extended dream sequence from one of my favourite ballet classics.
Iām on the lookout for a pink-tutu inspired vintage teacup for the next Parisian instalment in my āPink Tutu collection,ā which, I hope, one day I will have the opportunity to display in a proper exhibition, a dedicated gallery of āPink Tutu Art and Artifacts.ā But who knows? Maybe this pink tutu loving girl will even create a Pink Tutu Tea Shoppe one day. Oh the possibilities!
Until next Saturday my dears! Stay fabulous, stay pink and above all, keep dancing your way through life.
Au revoir mes amis,
Emma x
