#PinkTutuBlogParis - Post #432: Bonjour from the City of Lights!

Saturday, 2008-04-05

Bonjour mes chers amis!

Can you believe it? I'm in Paris! I woke up this morning in my little Derbyshire cottage, still half asleep in a pink cloud of tulle, and just knew it was time to chase my Parisian dreams. So, after a delicious breakfast of homemade raspberry jam on toast and a quick practice session with my barre, I hopped on the EuroStar and…well, let's just say that London was oh so quickly forgotten!

The journey was truly magical. I felt like I was in one of those classic black and white films, all windswept hair and scarves, gazing out of the window as the scenery flew past. I even spotted a group of cyclists decked out in matching pink jerseys, just like a troupe of little ballet bunnies, and I had to stifle a squeal of delight!

Finally, the train pulled into Gare du Nord, and as I stepped out into the Parisian air, I was instantly transported. It's like I'd stepped straight into a storybook. Quaint, cobblestone streets, impossibly chic ladies in perfectly tailored suits, and of course, a glorious bakery on every corner!

My little Paris flat is a dream – all warm stone and high ceilings, with a tiny balcony that overlooks the courtyard. The sun was setting as I unpacked, casting a golden glow across the cityscape, and I knew I was in for an adventure.

But first, a celebratory glass of French rosé! And of course, my usual ritual: a twirl in my pink tutu before I even think about getting ready for dinner! The city seems to love my flamboyant sense of style, even more so than Derbyshire. Every Parisian I've met today has greeted me with a genuine smile and a Bonjour, even when I'm whirling through the Metro in a full-length tutu! I love it!

This evening, I’m headed for a dazzling performance of ‘Swan Lake’ at the Opéra Garnier. Just picturing those breathtaking sets and the incredible dancers filling the stage, with the chandeliers reflecting light all over the room... it’s almost too much! After the performance, there might be a little shopping. You know I’ve got my eyes on a few very special Parisian trinkets! And, of course, I'll be keeping you updated with my Parisian adventures every Saturday, so be sure to come back next week for all the juicy details!

I can't wait to show you what else this magical city has in store for me, especially since I’m just getting started on my Parisian adventure! And remember, don't be afraid to embrace your inner tutu-wearer – because the world is a far more fabulous place with a little bit of pink tulle in it.

A bientôt,

Emma

My Paris Wish List - Saturday 2008-04-05
  • Tutu shopping at ‘Le Printemps’: They have a stunning ballet department! My sights are set on a brand-new shimmering pink creation that will leave the Parisians speechless.
  • Parisian brunch at 'Les Deux Magots': They have the most charming, romantic little terrace and, rumor has it, they have incredible croissants!
  • Art Deco at the Palais Garnier: They say the Opera Garnier is the perfect example of Parisian Art Deco.
  • Explore the charming Left Bank: It’s all cobblestone streets and hidden corners that are crying out for a Parisian ballerina adventure.
  • Lunch at 'La Cigale' on Boulevard Montmartre: This café looks divine – I'm already picturing a little pastel pink lunch in a corner booth.
A Glimpse Into My Pink Tutu World

Since I know you all love a peek behind the curtain of my little pink tutu world, here's a few things I'm loving right now:

  • The Ballet Blog: My obsession with the ballet goes deeper than tutus, darling! I recently stumbled upon this amazing online platform – full of behind-the-scenes glimpses, ballet reviews, and interviews with incredible dancers!
  • This Ballet Shoe: A Pair for All Occasions! These delicate shoes, so light they practically float, look amazing in pink and have been my go-to footwear for shopping trips and city walks.
  • My Favourite Ballet DVD: 'The Royal Ballet - Giselle' is on repeat at the moment! It's my go-to for a dose of classical elegance.
  • Ballet Barre Workout: Even in Paris, I have to keep those ballet muscles working, and my little barre set is my constant companion for keeping me fit.
  • My New Pink Ballet Dress: Okay, so I just had to get a new tutu – the perfect companion for all of my Parisian escapades, especially for a certain performance later today!

I can't wait to share my adventures with you all, so be sure to check back next week for the latest installment of #PinkTutuBlogParis!
