This Saturday marks my fifth day in the City of Lights and it's already been a whirlwind of tutus, croissants, and enchanting ballet performances! I arrived on Tuesday, having boarded the Eurostar in London with a suitcase bursting with pink frocks, a head full of dreams, and of course, my trusty pink tutu. After all, one never knows when a Parisian adventure calls for a twirl! 😉
Speaking of tutus, remember how I told you in my last blog that my next mission was to convince every Parisian to wear a pink tutu? Well, let me tell you, it's going swimmingly! I've been sporting my signature tutu every day, whether it's with a chic beret and a Parisian trench coat for exploring the charming streets of Montmartre or a playful polka dot frock for a fancy afternoon tea. And you know what? People are absolutely loving it! They smile, they giggle, they even join me for impromptu twirls. My mission to spread tutu-joy is officially in full swing! 🎉
Now, I know what you're thinking, "Emma, surely you aren't just swanning about Paris in a pink tutu, you must be seeing some shows!" You're right, my dear reader! And what shows! I've had the absolute pleasure of attending two magnificent performances. Firstly, I was utterly captivated by the Bolshoi Ballet's performance of Swan Lake at the Palais Garnier. The grandeur of the theatre, the exquisite dancers, the sweeping melodies...it was simply breathtaking! Every twirl, every leap, every whispered whisper of music sent shivers down my spine. This is truly what ballet dreams are made of. 🦢
On Wednesday, I also experienced the magical charm of ballet street performance! This time, the stage wasn't an elaborate theatre, but the very heart of the city – the bustling Place de la Concorde. A talented young ballerina danced gracefully, drawing a crowd with her flowing movements and ethereal grace. She danced to a haunting violin melody and her performance felt both timeless and incredibly contemporary. I felt so lucky to witness such talent, especially in such an unexpected location. The magic of ballet truly shines through everywhere, even amongst the vibrant bustle of Parisian life.
Of course, no trip to Paris would be complete without a healthy dose of shopping! I've found the most incredible boutique nestled in a little alleyway in Le Marais. It’s filled with exquisite silk scarves, handmade jewelry, and the most divine vintage frocks - each one more charming than the last! I simply couldn't resist purchasing a whimsical pink silk scarf to wear with my tutu, a stunning hand-painted necklace featuring tiny dancing ballerinas, and a vibrant turquoise vintage dress that is going to make heads turn. You know me, I simply can’t resist a touch of whimsy and colour! 😉
While Paris is indeed a fashion capital, it's also a haven for foodies like myself! Every corner brims with delicious bakeries, charming cafes, and bistros oozing Parisian charm. This morning, I woke up early, indulging in the most decadent breakfast - flaky croissants, sweet pain au chocolat, a steaming cup of French coffee, and a plate piled high with fresh, juicy strawberries. It was a symphony of flavours! 😋
And let’s not forget about my passion for all things Parisian – the cobblestone streets, the towering Eiffel Tower, the romantic Seine River...the list is endless! This Saturday, I’m going to climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower to enjoy a panoramic view of the city, capturing the iconic landmarks with my trusty camera. Afterwards, I’ll take a leisurely stroll along the Seine, stopping to admire the charming bridges and soak in the sights and sounds of this beautiful city. 🗼
Paris has captured my heart with its elegance, charm, and artistry. It truly is a city for dreamers, dancers, and lovers of life. I can’t wait to share more adventures with you next week!
