#PinkTutuBlogParis - Saturday 2011-12-03 Exploring Paris: A City That Makes Me Twirl!

Bonjour, my darlings! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-wearing ballerina blogger, Emma, back from the City of Lights with another fabulous post! This is #623 from the Pink-Tutu blog – don't forget you can find me at www.pink-tutu.com every Saturday for all the latest updates from my ballet-filled adventures!

Now, as you know, I love a good journey. A EuroStar train ride to Paris is an absolute dream – all that whizzing through the countryside with a little book and a spot of afternoon tea makes me feel like a princess on a secret mission. (Except for that moment when I accidentally spilled my Earl Grey on the rather chic French woman opposite me - awkward!)

But this trip wasn't about the journey, darling. This trip was all about the magic of Paris!

Pink perfection

My mission? To immerse myself in the romance, the elegance, and most importantly, the fashion of this incredible city! You see, I think Paris and ballet have a lot in common: both are about graceful movements, effortless style, and the artistry of pushing creative boundaries. In Paris, I feel like my own personal pink tutu persona can shine!

Right from the start, my Parisian adventure was tinged with pink. A perfectly pink-toned cab whisked me away to my hotel in Montmartre - the artistic heart of the city. Imagine it, darling: cobblestone streets, quaint cafes with twinkling fairy lights, and the air filled with the scent of fresh bread and the laughter of children playing. You truly feel like you’ve stepped onto the stage of a beautiful dream.

Tutus and Tiaras

For my first day in the city, I was determined to make a grand entrance. I couldn’t help myself! It felt only natural to choose a tutu, of course – a fluffy tulle dream in a soft lilac that shimmered in the light! It wouldn't be Paris without a touch of sparkle! To top it off, I added a matching pink hat and my trusty tiara for a little extra fairy magic.

My first stop was the famous Palais Garnier opera house. Just stepping into its grand entrance was a moment to remember! It was the ultimate stage for me to feel like a ballerina in a fairytale – and it felt oh-so-natural to pose in my tutu in front of that breathtaking façade! I’m already planning a repeat performance!

A whirlwind of ballet

Paris has such a vibrant ballet scene. My heart simply melted at the Musée de la Danse, where I found myself captivated by beautiful sketches and costumes from famous ballerinas like Margot Fonteyn and Anna Pavlova. They weren’t just dance pieces – they were masterpieces of art, frozen in time!

But the highlight of my day was undoubtedly a captivating performance by the Paris Opera Ballet at the Garnier Opera House. The dancers moved like feathers in the wind – each gesture a poem, every leap a sonnet. There were such powerful emotions expressed through their dancing, and it was a complete joy to watch their sheer skill and grace. I truly believe the magic of Paris and ballet met at that performance – a moment that will stay in my heart forever.

Parisian Treats and Shopping Shenanigans

Of course, no trip to Paris would be complete without indulging in a few Parisian delights. From flaky croissants in the morning, macarons in the afternoon, to a fine glass of champagne after a show, my taste buds were in pure heaven!

After a day of twirling through the ballet world, there was no better way to reward myself than with some shopping therapy. I'm utterly enchanted by the streets of Paris - they are filled with so much character! From the chic boutiques of Rue Saint Honoré to the vintage treasures hidden away in the Marais district, my shopping spree was truly unforgettable!

My top picks

I picked up a pair of chic blush-toned gloves to keep my hands warm and stylish on my future Paris adventures. I also snagged a dreamy lace-trimmed pink cardigan that will be perfect for layering over my favourite tutus this winter. (Don’t worry, my lovelies - a full outfit post is coming soon! I wouldn’t dare leave you in suspense!)

Dancing through the city

You know me - I couldn’t leave Paris without a bit of dancing in the streets. On a whim, I joined a free public dance workshop by the Eiffel Tower! This wasn't just about the movement, it was about meeting new friends from all over the world who shared a love for dance. We laughed, we danced, and we twirled under the Parisian sky, and it was pure, unadulterated magic.

The day ended with a visit to the Notre Dame Cathedral. There was a special exhibition showcasing medieval ballet costumes – now this is a history lesson I could get behind! I imagined myself twirling on the grand steps of the cathedral in a magnificent dress made of vibrant silks and velvets – a sight that could only happen in Paris, where dreams come true.

A City That Captivates

Paris, you stole my heart! It’s not just about the romantic buildings and elegant shops, though I do adore those too. It's about the energy in the air, the joy in every corner, the creativity bubbling over in every little detail, the sense of history, the art that speaks to my soul – and yes, of course, the absolutely beautiful ballet. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about my day! Keep an eye out for my next blog post - you’re going to love my latest Paris outfit picks and the wonderful performances I’ve seen! I can’t wait to share more of my Parisian adventures with you. Until next week, keep dancing and remember: every day is an opportunity to wear your pink tutu!

Love always,

Emma
