Pink Tutu Paris - Post #647: Ooh la la, Paris!

Saturday 19th May 2012

Bonjour from the City of Lights! I’m officially in Paris, darling! The EuroStar journey was delightful – such a civilised way to travel, don’t you think? Especially with the delectable snacks they serve! I couldn’t resist a little peek at the new French fashion magazine, with a gorgeous ballerina on the cover (naturally, she was in a tutu!). But not pink, sadly, oh well! I was wearing my favourite fluffy pink tutu on the train of course – I'm aiming for everyone to wear one eventually, and the Parisians certainly seem open to all kinds of sartorial choices, just check out their amazing street style!

And speaking of street style, let me tell you, Paris is absolutely teeming with inspiration! Today, we did a little wandering around the chic boutiques on Rue Saint-Honoré. Oh my, the exquisite dresses, hats, and shoes! My wallet is practically screaming! Luckily, my dance schedule is so busy, my funds are boosted by ballet performance fees! But you just can’t resist a little peek, darling! It's all about enjoying the magic of Paris and finding that little piece of the City of Lights to take back with you. I found myself a charming vintage brooch, with a ballerina in the centre – just divine! I knew instantly it had to be mine.

After a delicious, pink (naturally!) macaron from Ladurée, we strolled through the Tuileries Garden, marvelling at the glorious trees, flowers, and sculptures. Honestly, it’s the perfect spot for a romantic stroll, especially with a picnic basket full of goodies (I always pack extra pink marshmallows – they’re just so adorable!). We spent hours basking in the Parisian sunshine, soaking up the atmosphere. You know I can't resist snapping a few photos, it was a total Instagram dream!

Of course, no visit to Paris is complete without a ballet performance! Tonight, we’re seeing the iconic Swan Lake at the Palais Garnier – ooh la la! You can bet I’ve chosen the most extravagant pink tutu in my wardrobe for this evening’s outing! (There might even be a feather boa or two… just because.) Seeing the world's finest ballet dancers performing in such an opulent venue is a truly breathtaking experience, especially after all those fabulous fashion stores, it's going to be an extraordinary end to an absolutely wonderful day!

But Paris is much more than just ballet and boutiques – although it's difficult to tear yourself away! We’ve also got some fascinating museums on our itinerary – from the Musée d’Orsay to the Musée Rodin – as well as the Louvre (my mission to find that little Pink Tutu Mona Lisa! Ha!) We’re determined to see all that Paris has to offer, all while living it up like true Parisians, naturally with pink!

And of course, every evening is rounded off with a steaming mug of hot chocolate (the Parisian version is so decadent!) and a few hours watching old black and white films with a soundtrack of French music - I simply love the Parisian way of life - it's elegant and inspiring! And if there's time for a slice of pink cake, why not? The French definitely have a knack for the finer things, and it's so contagious - the beauty and art in every nook and cranny… this really is my perfect city!

So until next week, stay tuned for my next Paris adventures – and if you’re ever in the area, darling, be sure to look for a pink-tutu-wearing ballerina. I'm definitely out and about making memories, one dance, one photo op and one perfectly pink macaron at a time. Au revoir for now, mes amies!

Love,

Emma
