#PinkTutuBlogParis - Post 650: A Tutuful Day in the City of Lights
Bonjour, mes chers lecteurs! It's Saturday, the 9th of June, 2012, and I'm writing to you from the most magical city in the world: Paris! I arrived on Thursday morning, after a whirlwind journey on the Eurostar. I just love travelling by train - there's something so romantic about it, don't you think? As I gazed out the window, watching the countryside whizz by, I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. This was going to be a trip I'd never forget!
Paris has a certain je ne sais quoi, doesn't it? The air is filled with a sweet, almost sugary aroma of freshly baked bread and croissants, and the streets are a symphony of sights and sounds. From the charming little cafes with their striped awnings to the towering monuments like the Eiffel Tower, there's just so much to discover!
This week, I've been soaking up the Parisian sunshine (yes, it has been shining - miracle!), wandering through charming neighbourhoods, and indulging in a little bit of retail therapy. My mission: find the perfect pink tutu for a special performance I've been working on. And you know what? I think I found it! It's a glorious confection of soft pink tulle, with a little bit of sparkle here and there, just enough to make it extra special. Oh, the thrill of the hunt!
On my first day, I made a beeline for the iconic Galeries Lafayette. The department store itself is a sight to behold, and its food hall, Le Gourmet, is an absolute delight for the senses. After sampling some of the finest cheeses and chocolates in France (my absolute weakness!), I spent the afternoon browsing the beautiful couture clothes. Let's just say, my credit card was a bit lighter by the end of the day!
Of course, no trip to Paris would be complete without a visit to the iconic Moulin Rouge. This year, it's celebrating 130 years and the anniversary season has some incredible show with breathtaking performances, dazzling costumes, and jaw-dropping talent! I must admit, I was a little mesmerised. The dancers were incredible, their movements both powerful and delicate, and the costumes, well, they were spectacular! A little birdie whispered to me that they even had a pink feather boa in the show - very exciting!
Later, after enjoying a picnic with a breathtaking view of the Seine River, I headed for the Grand Palais to attend the Ballet International event. What a treat! It was a night of stunning performances and artistic expression, featuring dancers from all over the world. And you won't believe it, but one of the dancers even wore a pink tutu - I can’t be the only one loving this look, it must be a sign! I felt inspired and thrilled.
This Saturday was dedicated to seeing the famous Notre Dame Cathedral, the symbol of Paris and its architecture. I was amazed by the intricate detail, its history and stories behind it, such amazing history and tales, it is a truly remarkable place, and was especially happy that it’s been reopened recently after the fire.
It is funny that you think of all the historical and amazing structures, then I go on to see the very modern and striking contemporary design of the Centre Pompidou. From one extreme to another. But honestly it's all such amazing creativity.
My Parisian journey isn't over yet, but I wanted to share my experiences with you all. You know, one of the things I've noticed here is that the Parisians have such a sense of style. They embrace their individuality, they love fashion, and they definitely aren’t afraid of expressing themselves.
I believe there's a little bit of the Parisian flair in every one of us! So why not express your own unique sense of style? Maybe a touch of pink in your wardrobe, a feather boa to add a touch of whimsy, or, perhaps, even a pink tutu? Just a thought, you know…
Keep checking in with my blog each week - there’s lots more exciting tales to tell about my Pink Tutu Paris adventure.
Until next week, remember - it's always a good time for a pink tutu!
Au revoir, mon chérie!
