#PinkTutuBlogParis - Saturday 2012-06-23: Ooh La La, Paris! (Post #652)

Bonjour, mes amis! 🇫🇷

It's Emma here, your pink-loving, tutu-wearing ballerina extraordinaire, and I'm thrilled to be back with you from the City of Lights, Paris! It's a whole new adventure, and guess what? It all started with the EuroStar! I adore those sleek, shiny trains - the perfect way to whisk you off to another country, a whiff of croissants and a touch of French elegance swirling around you. It's truly the most glamorous way to travel!

This weekend, I'm taking on the Parisien fashion scene. It’s a place where style oozes from every corner. Every cafe is an impromptu runway, every man on the street a model, and everyone seems to have their own unique flair. But don’t worry, I’m embracing it all – with my trusty pink tutu, of course!

So, let's get into this post and explore Paris!

A Tutuful Beginning

As the EuroStar zipped through the Channel Tunnel, I had time to reflect on the exciting journey ahead. Paris is the ultimate ballet destination, so this trip was all about absorbing its creative energy, soaking up the elegance and… shopping! Yes, I confess, I’m also on the hunt for some exquisite pieces of vintage and contemporary French fashion. And it goes without saying, Paris wouldn’t be Paris without a little Parisian flair added to my tutu collection.

I couldn't resist getting a photo on the platform at Gare du Nord - after all, my blog followers demand their #PinkTutuTravel pics! This tutu is my favourite. It's the “Pink Parisian” one, delicate silk and featherlight, it’s a whimsical swirl of pink, soft like rose petals, with delicate accents of shimmering gold embroidery. It felt so perfect for Paris! It truly captures the Parisian essence – elegant, dreamy and full of joy! I'll be sure to capture some more photos, of me twirling through the Parisian streets with this lovely tutu later.

A Taste of Parisian Life

Once we settled into our quaint Parisian hotel, I couldn’t wait to get a taste of the city's delights. Our hotel is hidden away on a cobbled street, right near the Marais, a bustling historic district. The area buzzed with life! Shops, cafes, restaurants - all were bursting with character and the warm Parisian sunshine. I immediately fell under the city's spell.

Saturday Shopping and Parisian Treats

After settling in, we were ready to embrace the heart of Paris - the fashion scene. We headed straight for the Galerie Lafayette, that grand, gorgeous palace of fashion. Walking through those grand glass halls, past glittering chandeliers and the endless rows of haute couture and designer creations… it was breathtaking! But, my budget (mostly ballet-funded, don't forget!) has to be kept in mind, so it was window shopping for me for the most part. However, I did snag a delightful pair of pink-tinted glasses – so perfect for looking at all the beautiful fashion on display! They felt very Parisian, and my look is totally Parisian with them on.

After an hour of shopping in style, we ventured into a cozy patisserie, indulging in delicious pastries, delicate macarons and, of course, some rich, creamy hot chocolate. Parisian food - it really is as wonderful as it gets. We dined at a traditional bistro tucked away on a quiet side street, relishing the atmosphere and the genuine flavours of the city. It felt as though we'd stepped back in time!

The Ballet Enchantment Continues

One of the main reasons for my Parisian trip is to immerse myself in the city's ballet scene. The Palais Garnier, a breathtakingly beautiful opera house with an opulent facade and interior, was our destination. We're seeing the most spectacular production – "La Bayadere"! The Palais Garnier was even more magnificent than I could have imagined, with gilded detail and an ornate staircase that was begging for a graceful descent (which, of course, I managed in my Pink Parisian tutu! I can't tell you how many photos we took – they’re going straight onto the blog!).

"La Bayadere" was breathtaking. The dancers were exquisite! Their movements were fluid and graceful, a pure joy to behold. I'm already planning a trip to a Parisian ballet class. It'll be great to move in such a culturally-charged place, where ballet is more than just dance – it's part of the very essence of the city.

Paris by Night

Saturday evening and the lights of Paris are spectacular! I'm so ready for a romantic Parisian evening. We were strolling along the Seine river as the lights began to twinkle, creating a beautiful, almost magical ambiance. The night air was filled with music and laughter. The Eiffel Tower glittered in the distance, and I captured some fantastic photos of its shimmering brilliance, all captured by my phone camera, but I know they'll be really special on the blog.

We discovered a quaint cafe along the Seine, enjoying the buzz of the evening, taking in the beauty of our surroundings, the Parisian ambience. A magical evening in Paris with a delicious dessert and some chilled champagne, definitely making memories to cherish!

Back to My Blog World

And here I am, at our hotel room, and the time has come to get ready for the latest #PinkTutuBlogParis update. I'm always so grateful that my love of ballet allows me to visit exciting places and that my posts inspire you. I love seeing you dancing along with me, wherever you are in the world!

Next week, I’m on a Parisian mission – to seek out the hidden treasures of vintage clothing boutiques, those hidden gems where style is timeless, not trend-driven! It’ll be a fantastic opportunity to share some fashion tips, discover new Parisian looks, and add some new, exquisite pink pieces to my growing collection of tutus. So, be sure to join me on the #PinkTutuBlogParis journey next week – you won't want to miss the fun!

Au revoir, mes amis! 💖
