Pink Tutu Blog: Paris – Post #661

Bonjour mes amies!

It’s Saturday morning, the sun is shining, and I’m sitting here in my little Parisian hotel room, writing to you from the City of Lights. It’s like a dream, the streets are filled with laughter and croissants, the shops are bursting with beautiful clothes and the air is thick with the smell of fresh flowers and freshly brewed coffee!

Can you believe I’m in Paris, my absolute favourite city, finally! I know I’ve been saying it for ages, but you can't believe how excited I was to hop on the EuroStar at Derby station on Thursday. As usual, I dressed for the occasion, naturally in my favourite shade of pink – it's the colour of romance, don't you think? - and a tutu. Pink tutus and the Eurostar just go together perfectly. I always feel so chic and fabulous as the train pulls away from the station, ready for new adventures. I'm starting to think maybe pink tutus should be the uniform for the EuroStar!

Of course, no trip to Paris is complete without a ballet performance, and this weekend I am treating myself to a spectacular production at the Palais Garnier, “Swan Lake”, it’s my all-time favourite and I simply can't miss it! It’s my secret indulgence and one of the ways I fund my travels. I earn a bit by performing at local events in Derbyshire, and although ballet is such hard work, it is definitely worth it when I can spend my hard-earned money on travel and beautiful tutus. My tutus go everywhere with me – I even wore one to meet my favourite Parisian ballet teacher last week – he’s lovely, a true artist.

Anyway, I had the most incredible time last night, walking along the Seine, the twinkling lights reflecting in the water. I think my eyes have never been so happy! My first Parisian adventure was exploring Montmartre and of course, stopping for a delightful glass of wine and watching a street performer – they were brilliant! Then a wonderful lunch, in an authentic cafe, just a stone’s throw from Sacre Coeur.

And the shopping! My head is spinning, I've already treated myself to a few exquisite additions to my wardrobe – it's impossible to resist. A beautiful pink clutch bag, a perfect shade of pink, a sparkly scarf, a delicate silk shawl, a classic pair of black ballerina flats, all perfect for my Paris adventure, and the sales are brilliant too! This shopping trip was a must and it would have been rude not to have treated myself. I’m saving my credit card, though, as I plan on indulging myself at Printemps this afternoon. I just can't resist a bit of Chanel! And who knows, maybe I will even treat myself to another pink tutu. What do you think?

Speaking of treats, I must mention the delicious pastries! The pain au chocolat and croissants are truly divine. And I can’t resist a good café au lait - although sometimes, a good old-fashioned English cup of tea is all I need. It's quite the novelty, going from Derbyshire to Paris!

However, as you all know, Paris is not all about fashion and ballet, although I am spending my days dreaming in my ballerina shoes, in gorgeous cafes, sipping wine and searching for the perfect vintage finds in antique stores, my evenings are spent exploring Paris, all lit up, by moonlight, wandering the picturesque streets and discovering charming little cafes – every corner of Paris holds a secret, doesn’t it?

So I’m settling down for a few minutes with a nice cup of tea, then it's back out to explore. You see, it’s like this, my motto is to simply live, love and embrace all that life throws at me! After all, isn’t that what we should all do?

I'll write again next week with more tales from the City of Lights. I think there will be lots to write about, there always is in Paris!

A bientot,

Emma

P.S. Don't forget to check out my photos of my pink tutus and my new Paris buys!

And oh, I almost forgot. I know, you’ve been thinking it, and I’m thinking it, how great would it be if Paris embraced pink tutus like I do? I'm planning a small "pink tutu walk" for next week, to celebrate Paris. Would you come and join me? I know a brilliant cafe to start from… And yes, there will be pastries. Let me know if you'd like to join my little Parisian ballet celebration! Maybe we’ll catch some eyes, spread some smiles, and maybe even get Parisians thinking about pink tutus.

Ciao for now,

Emma
