Pink Tutu Blog: Paris – Post 704 - 22nd June 2013 - The City of Lights…and Pink Tutus!
Bonjour mes chéries! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to the City of Lights, Paris! The Eurostar journey, a favourite mode of transport for this Pink Tutu gal, was smooth as silk – perfect for getting into that pre-trip excitement mode. The city of Paris never fails to whisk me away with its charm, from the cobblestone streets and charming cafes to the architectural marvels and the air thick with creativity.
I have to tell you, there’s nothing like the thrill of seeing Paris flash before my eyes, through the Eurostar windows as I approach Gare du Nord!
And what's a trip to Paris without a dash of pink? This time around, I brought my most beautiful, frothy, pinkest of pink tulle tutus - you know the one I got specially made from that adorable shop in Derbyshire. And trust me, it didn’t disappoint! I think I turned heads on the Champs-Élysées, even among the haute couture fashionistas!
Ballet and the Beauty of ParisOf course, no Parisian trip would be complete without ballet. I got tickets for a performance at the Opéra Garnier – truly magnificent! The architecture of the place just left me speechless, with the opulent interior and grand staircase – absolutely divine! The performance was just as breathtaking. It was a contemporary work, a bit modern for my classic taste, but so full of life and energy, I was absolutely entranced. There was even a tiny ballerina, no older than 5, who just stole the show! Watching her pirouette and arabesque across the stage filled me with such joy - I even teared up a little! I swear she even managed a perfect double pirouette – how can someone so small be so perfect? My dream is for that little one to one day don a pink tutu! (Maybe a pink tututu with sparkly ribbons…)
Oh, and speaking of pink tutus, did you know I spotted a Parisian boutique selling adorable pink tulle ballet tutus for little girls? I might just have to add that to my pink tutu collection! After all, sharing the joy of the pink tutu is the aim of my life, isn't it?
Fashion Fun and Pink Parisian DelightsBetween ballet shows and cafe stops, I squeezed in some shopping, naturally. I have to say, Paris just seems to be infused with a special kind of chic. And speaking of chic…let’s just say a couple of perfectly tailored black blazers found their way into my suitcase. And some stylish yet classic ballet flats! They will go with anything, so I know I’ll wear them again and again. And let’s not forget a touch of Parisian flair with a brand new beret!
Oh, I forgot to mention I bought the most gorgeous blush pink handbag – the perfect touch of elegance to any outfit. I also splurged on a selection of French macarons in every shade of pink, from the softest blush to a vibrant fuchsia! A taste of Paris – the sweet and pink way.
The best thing about visiting Paris in June? It’s warm enough for outdoor picnics! So, on a sunny afternoon, I picked up some freshly baked baguette and delicious pastries (my favourite!) from a bakery near the Seine. The air was filled with the scent of lavender and the sound of children's laughter. Such bliss!
A Touch of RomanceIn the evening, I walked along the Seine. Paris is truly a city of lovers. Everywhere I looked, couples were gazing at the Eiffel Tower lit up against the night sky, making memories together. You just can’t deny that touch of Parisian romance. It truly did make me feel dreamy and utterly smitten with the city, and its people.
Reflections on a Parisian Pink DreamEvery visit to Paris makes me feel like a new person – inspired, uplifted and just a touch more pink, of course! This time around, I had my heart filled with memories of beautiful ballet performances, laughter, a dash of luxury, and lots of delicious treats! Oh, and let’s not forget the delightful fashion finds - I must say, my pink tutu collection just got even better. And remember – every trip I make is a journey to inspire, motivate, and remind everyone that life is better in a pink tutu, even if you’re just dreaming!
So, keep dancing, my sweet readers!
Sending lots of pink tutus your way!
Emma x
