Pink Tutu Blog: Paris - Post #757 (28th June 2014) - The City of Lights... and Tutus! 🩰
Bonjour, my darling darlings! It's your favourite tutu-clad traveller, Emma, back from the most magical adventure! You see, I took the plunge, booked a Eurostar to Paris, and am now officially experiencing the City of Lights... and Tutus! 🗼💕
You see, Paris has always held a special place in my heart. The elegance, the history, the breathtaking architecture... and, of course, the ballet! It's a city that embodies the very essence of what I love: grace, style, and a dash of the fantastical.
This trip is a celebration of sorts! I just landed my biggest performance yet - a lead role in a new production of "Giselle"! (More about that later, lovelies!) So, Paris felt like the perfect destination to soak up some inspiration, indulge in a little haute couture, and discover some of the city's hidden gems.
A Journey in Pink: Eurostar and TutusBefore I share the magic, I just have to tell you about my journey. Remember those vintage suitcases I mentioned in last week's post? They've finally been put to good use! (You can check out the haul over at www.pink-tutu.com, if you're keen!). They were packed to the brim with my tutu-ful wardrobe, enough pink to outshine the Eiffel Tower!
Stepping onto the Eurostar felt like stepping into a fairytale. The sleek, modern train felt like it was carrying me directly into a storybook, and I felt so excited. The whole carriage seemed to vibrate with the energy of excited travellers, all buzzing with anticipation for adventures unknown.
Paris: Love at First SightLet me tell you, lovelies, Paris lived up to the hype! Stepping onto the platform at Gare du Nord, I was greeted by a symphony of sights and sounds. The air smelled like freshly baked bread and, well, a little bit like magic! 🥖 ✨
I had this incredible feeling, like the whole city was waiting for me, waiting to unfold its secrets, and show me a new world.
Ballet at the Palais Garnier: A Symphony of PinkOf course, no trip to Paris would be complete without a visit to the iconic Palais Garnier. The majestic building, inspired by the grandeur of Versailles, transported me straight into a gilded age fantasy. My breath caught as I walked through those monumental doors, into the magnificent grand staircase - the most stunning piece of architecture I've ever seen!
Then I witnessed the absolute epitome of ballet - Giselle. I'd always dreamt of dancing in Paris, but to see such talent unfold before my very eyes… Well, it filled me with inspiration. The whole performance was simply magical! I had a huge lump in my throat for the last act, which I won’t spoil for you. But if you’re ever in Paris, see it!
Afterwards, the entire theatre buzzed with energy. People spoke about the performances in hushed, appreciative whispers. I couldn’t help but soak in the atmosphere, dreaming about one day gracing the same stage.
A Shopping Spree Fit for a Princess! No Parisian trip is complete without a spot of shopping. And, let’s be honest, lovelies, shopping is always a great way to de-stress after an inspiring day at the ballet.
I took a detour to the charming and chaotic Marais, known for its hidden boutiques and designer shops. I spent hours weaving through the bustling streets, trying on beautiful hats and exploring some quirky little stores, hunting for unique pieces for my upcoming performance. 👒✨
I'd always admired the French style. There’s this inherent sense of elegance and nonchalant coolness about them, which I love. I felt completely at home exploring Parisian boutiques, trying on a variety of looks, mixing a touch of vintage glamour with classic Parisian style. You'll see some of my finds in my next post, I promise! 😉
Indulging in French DelightsNo trip to Paris would be complete without some truly delightful food experiences! This is where I found myself wandering through a quaint Parisian neighbourhood called Saint-Germain-des-Prés. It’s full of charming cafes and bistros.
I tucked into the most delectable, fluffy croissant, bathed in sunshine at an adorable little bistro with cobblestones surrounding it. Honestly, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven!
That evening, I treated myself to a classic Parisian experience - a delightful dinner at Le Bouillon Chartier, a traditional French bistro where you feel like you've travelled back in time. The old-fashioned wooden tables, the dimly lit room, and the scent of rich stews filled the air. They served the most perfect Boeuf Bourguignon - melt-in-your-mouth beef and creamy gravy, absolutely delicious. And the price? Very, very affordable for the quality of food and the charming atmosphere. If you're in Paris on a budget, this is a must-try!
The Pink Tutu Project - Parisian Edition! My dear readers, remember my mission? To encourage everyone to wear a pink tutu? Well, it was impossible not to spread the love in Paris.
I decided to spread some tutufied joy on the charming cobblestone streets of Montmartre, a truly unique Parisian district filled with artists and creatives. I put on a playful, pink, ballerina outfit and set off! You’d be amazed at the number of people who smiled back! People stopped to take pictures with me, and there was this sense of wonder and delight.
I’m going to be working on my pink tutu designs in preparation for a surprise show for my next visit. Stay tuned for updates!
The Beauty of the UnknownLovelies, I’m back home now in Derbyshire, but Paris is still dancing around in my mind.
What I love about travelling is the chance to discover something new about myself, to see the world through fresh eyes. Paris has reminded me to be bolder, more adventurous, and to never stop chasing my dreams, even when they seem impossibly big.
As always, my darlings, thank you for reading my adventures.
Stay pink! ✨💖
