Pink Tutu Blog Paris - Post #852: Whirlwind of Parisian Delights!

Bonjour, my darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, Emma, back with another Paris adventure! This week's journey was a whirlwind of ballet, shopping, and the most gorgeous views the City of Lights has to offer. And of course, I couldn't forget my trusty pink tutu - it was absolutely the perfect attire for twirling through the streets, soaking up all the Parisian charm.

You know I just adore the EuroStar. It's the ultimate way to travel, don't you think? Being whisked away from the hustle and bustle of Derbyshire to the romantic grandeur of Paris is truly magical, and I felt so excited as I peered out the window, watching the countryside blur by.

The French capital has been calling my name, and I’m finally back after a little hiatus! I was thrilled to be dancing on stage just last week with a wonderful company, which gave me enough pennies to fund my Parisian escapade. You know I'm always on the lookout for gorgeous new leotards, shoes, and dancewear! This time around, my dancewear earnings were going towards some very specific Parisian fashion finds… more about that later!

Now, let's dive into the highlights of this truly wonderful trip:

A Touch of Ballet Magic at the Opera Garnier:

I was in a proper ballerina heaven on Friday. My schedule had a truly beautiful treat - a performance at the breathtaking Opera Garnier. The building itself is simply exquisite! All that grand marble, intricate décor, and velvet… it just takes you straight to another era. It's no surprise this iconic building has graced so many films and plays over the years.

The performance was equally magical! It was “Swan Lake” and you simply cannot beat that classic ballet. All the graceful ballerinas, the strong male dancers, the poignant music, and of course, the spectacular costumes! I was mesmerized. The final act brought a tear to my eye, such an emotional spectacle. The ballerina portraying the swan was extraordinary; I'm always awestruck by how beautifully ballet communicates emotions, don't you think?

Shopping Spree! Parisian Style & Grace:

Okay, a ballet enthusiast simply cannot go to Paris without a proper shopping spree, am I right? This time, I was on a mission! My little pink-tutu heart was set on finding a chic pair of pointe shoes – you know, the kind you'd expect a Parisian ballerina to wear!

Now, the challenge is, pointe shoes aren't easy to find, even in Paris! So I went hunting. Luckily, my dedication led me to the most amazing little dancewear shop just a stone's throw from the Garnier Opera House. They had a stunning array of shoes in all the colours you could imagine, and after hours of deliberation, I settled on a pair that was simply divine! A sleek, black satin design with just a touch of sparkle.

After that fabulous find, I just had to go into some of the city’s chicest shops – I know it’s a Parisian tradition! And let me tell you, it was a wonderful way to end a truly fulfilling day. From couture dresses at the Rue de Rivoli to quirky jewellery on Rue de Sèvres, every corner was filled with unique Parisian flair.

Taking in the Parisian Sights (And Tastes!)

One can’t come to Paris without exploring its famous landmarks! This weekend was perfect for me. The weather was glorious – clear blue skies and just the right amount of sunshine to soak up some Vitamin D. I had the most divine lunch outside on a charming cobblestone square. It was the perfect way to soak up the ambience of Parisian life. The air was filled with the delicious aroma of freshly baked bread and flowers, it truly was magical.

Oh, and the croissants! They’re as delicious as they're beautiful! You could just bite right into a beautiful, golden crescent and the warm buttery deliciousness just melts in your mouth. I have to say, French pastries will forever be one of my favourite parts of this lovely city.

After a wonderful lunch, it was time to see some of the more iconic Paris landmarks. And yes, my pink tutu was along for the ride! A jaunty little pink tutu and a chic little beret are always the perfect combination for me in Paris. First up – the Eiffel Tower. It’s just an unbelievable sight! I just stood there looking up, imagining all the people who have been captivated by this marvel of engineering, throughout its history. The Tower is truly magical, a must see for anyone visiting the City of Lights!

Next stop was the Louvre – so iconic! This museum truly has a treasure trove of masterpieces, you can't leave Paris without visiting. I walked right past “The Mona Lisa”! Although surrounded by thousands of tourists and barricades, she was a sight to behold!

I could have explored Paris forever, but alas, it was time to say “au revoir” to my beloved city, and I promise you, it won't be long until I’m back. The EuroStar is calling again…
