Pink Tutu Blog - Paris, Post 860 - Saturday 18th June 2016: Ooh La La, Paris!
Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, back from another whirl around the globe! This time, I'm landing right in the heart of fashion, romance, and of course, the most beautiful ballet: Paris! I arrived yesterday, jet-lagged but full of excitement, courtesy of the speedy and chic Eurostar. Oh, to think I'm a Derbyshire girl, living the Parisian dream!
Remember when I said I was going to have a tutu-tastic summer? Well, hold onto your bonnets, because Paris is just the beginning!
I'm posting this blog straight from my gorgeous hotel room overlooking the Seine - picture a little Parisian balcony covered in flowers, and me, twirling in a pale pink tutu with a glass of French champagne! Sighs dreamily. This is the life, isn't it?
Now, before we get into the heart of Paris, a quick thank you to all of you, my gorgeous Tutu Tribe! Your support through my ballet performances helps fuel my travels. You, my darlings, are the wind beneath my tutu wings.
So, here's how my weekend's looking, complete with all the Parisian essentials - tutus, ballet, and oh-so-much pink!
Saturday: The Pink Promenade
As soon as I got settled, I was off! First stop: the iconic Galeries Lafayette, where I literally squealed with delight at the fashion wonderland that unfolded before me. You guys wouldn't believe the tulle I found – some of it shimmering with delicate silver sequins, just perfect for my new "Parisienne" tutu! It was like I had stepped straight out of a dream. After my spree, a divine Parisian afternoon tea in a cafe filled with sunshine. It doesn't get more enchanting than this!
I couldn't stay away from the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral for too long! It was every bit as breathtaking as I'd imagined. The gothic architecture and the intricate stonework - a perfect setting for a ballerina's inspiration, don't you think?
Then, I decided to venture into the Montmartre district - an absolute haven for art and creativity. Walking up the hill towards the Sacré-Coeur Basilica was a real treat. The artistic vibe, the colourful cafes, the vibrant street art - just enchanting! And oh my goodness, the views from the basilica - just stunning.
After that, a pit-stop at the Moulin Rouge, and not just to snap some photos with the iconic windmill. I was determined to witness the beauty of can-can, to absorb the glitz, glamour, and pure joy of those captivating costumes! Talk about an inspiring show! The music, the dance, the costumes... they had me absolutely mesmerised! It was like a dream, and I swear, I saw some of the can-can dancers twirling in pale pink tutus, a subtle nod to my Tutu Tribe, I believe.
And then, for dinner, I stumbled across the most delightful French restaurant - imagine tiny twinkling lights strung across the cobbled streets, soft jazz music drifting from an open window, and a perfectly seasoned steak with crispy fries. You simply must try French fries in Paris, darlings!
But, wait, that's not all! I just found out there's a street ballet performance taking place tonight, and oh my goodness, I can hardly contain my excitement! I mean, ballet under the Parisian night sky, amongst cobbled streets and the soft glow of lamplight? Perfection!
Sunday: Fashionista's Feast & Ballet Bliss
After a relaxing sleep and a Parisian breakfast with pastries lighter than a feather, I'm ready to conquer the shops! The Champs-Élysées is beckoning, with its endless window displays of Parisian chic. I already know, there are more than a few tutus in my future. After all, it's not a Parisian escapade without a little shopping, is it?
And in the evening? drumroll A ballet performance at the iconic Opéra Garnier. How utterly divine! Just imagine me, perched in the elegant boxes, the soft glow of the chandeliers, and the sound of graceful, inspiring music sweeping across the auditorium. I can practically hear the tutus twirling already. I might just do a little spin in the theatre foyer afterwards, don't you think?
Monday: Adieu Paris, for now...
It's a whirlwind weekend in Paris, and I wouldn't have it any other way. The romance, the artistry, the charm… it’s intoxicating! You know I'll be back.
Until then, remember, my lovely Tutu Tribe, we are all ballerinas, no matter what we wear. Keep your head up high, embrace your inner grace, and never, ever, stop twirling. And while you’re at it, keep spreading the pink tutu revolution. The world needs more tutus, especially in pink.
Love always,
Emma xx
