Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back from my magical trip to Paris and absolutely bursting to share all the twirling, twinkling wonder with you! This is post #888 on the Pink Tutu Blog and you're reading it fresh from Paris - because guess what? I took the Eurostar over here, right in time for New Year's Eve, and what a magical weekend it was!
Honestly, it's no surprise to anyone that my Paris adventure started in a beautiful tutu shop! There I was, amongst the stunning silks and satins, surrounded by tiers of pink tulle - you know how much I adore a good pink tutu! I was in seventh heaven! After picking up the most exquisite baby pink tutu with matching leg warmers (and a little something special for my ballet class back in Derbyshire) I stepped out into the bustling Parisian streets, the air humming with the exciting anticipation of New Year's Eve.
That night, the city truly transformed! I twirled my way through the sparkling streets, dodging couples kissing under the Eiffel Tower. I even bumped into a Parisian street performer wearing a feather boa and a top hat, a fabulous tribute to the iconic French can-can! This entire city oozes history, beauty, and excitement, and that evening felt especially electric with that special new year buzz. I felt the magic in the air!
New Year's Day brought a delightful change of pace. After a long morning exploring charming shops brimming with luxurious perfumes and elegant gloves, I found myself right in the heart of the Louvre. The Louvre, of course, is home to one of my absolute favourite pieces of art, "The Winged Victory of Samothrace." Her powerful yet graceful form inspired me so much, reminding me to be strong and elegant, and not be afraid to spread my wings, so to speak. It's not just her powerful pose though, but the delicate lines of the fabric around her that make her captivating. Every fold and drape, so feminine and flowing, reminds me of the grace and artistry of the tutu.
Speaking of which, I have a feeling my Paris adventures have just begun! I'm heading to the Palais Garnier this week to see a magnificent performance by the Paris Opera Ballet. I'm beyond excited to experience the grandiosity of the opera house, to see the exquisite dancing, and of course, to soak up the glorious atmosphere. It's always a treat to see a classical ballet and, when it's in the home of the Paris Opera Ballet, well, you know it's going to be an unforgettable experience.
And just imagine the outfits! Paris is a haven for fashion-lovers, a city where style is in the air. This is the place to be for inspiration, and it shows! The chic Parisians, in their timeless coats and elegant scarves, gave me a constant dose of outfit inspiration! Honestly, their style is just so elegant and timeless. The way they pull together simple, sophisticated outfits that never feel overdone... they have it down to an art.
Paris definitely made me want to ditch my usual jeans and top and indulge in a few new, fabulous pieces. And honestly, darling, you already know how I feel about a touch of sparkle. Every outfit needs that little something extra, something to make it stand out. A flash of glitter, a splash of colour, a dash of pink - that's my motto. And you know what? The Parisian shops delivered!
