Paris, Oh Paris! Post #894: A Tutuful Weekend in the City of Lights
Bonjour mes chƩriees!
Itās Saturday, which means itās time for a fresh blog post from your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina! I'm in Paris, darlings! Yes, the City of Lights, the City of Love, the City ofā¦ PINK TUTU FASHION? Itās certainly my kind of place!
I boarded the EuroStar last weekend (always such a magical experience, those sleek trains) with my suitcase brimming with pink tulle, a head full of Parisian dreams, and enough glitter to illuminate the entire train carriage (donāt worry, I kept it under wraps! Just my trademark shimmer!).
The Parisian Waltz:
I landed in the Gare du Nord with butterflies in my tummy (and some champagne bubbles left from my celebrations aboard the EuroStar - never leave home without a bottle, darlings!) My little flat in the Latin Quarter is like something out of a Parisian movie. Imagine this: exposed brick, a wrought-iron balcony with a view of the Seine, a vintage sewing machine and enough pink lampshades to make even Marie Antoinette swoon. Iām practically living in a dream!
Now, about that āCity of Loveā bit...Paris is everything! I'm embracing it all ā the art, the architecture, the history, the fabulous street performers (you guys HAVE to see the mime artist outside the Louvre, itās just the most dramatic, graceful show ever!), the vintage shops tucked away in the alleyways, the clothes (OMG, youāre going to adore my shopping haul, coming in a later post!), and of course, the ballet!
Ballet: From The Opera To The Streets
As any ballet fan knows, Paris is a sacred ground for us ballerinas. Last night, I spent my evening at the magnificent Palais Garnier. Oh my, itās even more glorious in real life! Youāve probably seen pictures but those donāt capture the sheer opulence and grandeur of it. The ornate architecture, the grand chandeliers, the plush velvet seats...I even took a photo of myself doing a little arabesque pose in front of the grand staircase, you'll have to see it! It was magical. Iāve been dying to see this ballet since I saw it performed in Derbyshire back in the day ā and I just had to wear my pink tutu to the Palais Garnier ā you just have to, donāt you?!
Tonight, I'm venturing into the heart of the ballet scene at the OpĆ©ra de Paris. I canāt wait to see the breathtaking choreography, those incredible dancers! Iām planning on going backstage afterwards ā if I can pry myself away from the theatre to venture into the magical world of the ballet dressing room! *A girl can dream, right? *
But itās not all high-society ballet for this ballerina, darling. Paris is also ballet on the streets. Every day there's a new dancer to inspire me, whether it's a graceful woman doing a fouettĆ© outside a bakery, or a gaggle of adorable kids pirouetting on the corner, the energy of the City of Lights translates beautifully onto the streets. Even the street dogs seem to have a certain je ne sais quoi!
Paris Fashion: My New Ballet Collection
And speaking of Parisian energyā¦ have I mentioned the fashion?! Oh, darling! Where do I even start? Paris is a haven for everything girly and gorgeous. Iām obsessed with the Parisian style: think feminine, sophisticated, effortless chic with a hint of drama. Think Parisian street chic in ballet shoes! Think pink tutus?
Iāve already stocked up on some amazing clothes. Think vintage lace, chic black and white, a beautiful vintage pink satin blouse (OMG itās going to look amazing with a tulle skirt!)ā¦ But I am totally on the hunt for the perfect tutu to wear to the ballet this weekend. Just imagine, me in a gorgeous, lacy, Parisian-inspired pink tutu with a dash of glitter... pure magic!
Iāll be sure to document my shopping haul for you on Wednesdayās blog post. I already know this is going to be epic. I can feel it.
Pink Tutued to Perfection:
There's a saying, āYou can always wear more pink.ā But let's be real, thatās just my personal mantra. But really, there's just something magical about pink, donāt you think?
I'm on a mission to get the whole world wearing pink tutus! Paris seems like the perfect place to start. Iāve already been doing some street styling with some local Parisians. I took my trusty pink tutu to the Tuileries Garden and convinced some local teens to let me do their "tutu transformation" (you'll be able to see the before and afters on my social media - PinkTutuBlog on Insta and TikTok!). I even managed to capture a cute little French Bulldog sporting a tutu. You have to see him! (He totally rocked it!). The city is totally embracing the Pink Tutu Movement!
And speaking of movements, did you know February 11th is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science? I thought it would be the perfect time to highlight the women who inspire me! They show that dreams don't have age, colour, or genre barriers, and I think thatās absolutely fabulous! This post is dedicated to them.
Stay tuned, darlings! This week in Paris is going to be epic, and I'm taking you with me every step of the way.
Bisous,
Emma
