#PinkTutuBlogParis - Post 903: Bonjour from the City of Lights! 🩰✨
Hello my darlings! It's Emma here, bringing you another slice of Parisian paradise from the #PinkTutuBlogParis. It's Saturday, the 15th of April, 2017, and the sunshine is finally here after a week of typical Parisian showers (don't worry, I packed my trusty pink brolly!). ☂️
As you know, I’m absolutely smitten with the romance and glamour of Paris. There’s nothing quite like it. My heart beats faster as soon as the Eurostar speeds into Gare du Nord, that beautiful historic station that whispers of a bygone era of grand voyages and fabulous adventures. ✨
This trip to Paris is a special one. My beloved Grandad (who also happens to be my biggest fan and practically my stylist! 😉) gifted me tickets to see "La Bayadère" at the Palais Garnier, which he knew was a dream of mine. Oh, how I have been yearning to see this exquisite production! 💖 It's like stepping into a dream; the music, the costumes, the dance moves, it all feels so magical and elegant!
Speaking of magical and elegant, I couldn't resist slipping on my newest pink tulle tutu for our trip to the Eiffel Tower this morning! I always find myself drawn to the most picturesque spots in the city to do a little twirling for my Insta! 🗼 You know, the Parisian streets are just made for twirling – they have this lovely flow to them, and I can practically feel the spirit of Toulouse Lautrec and his vibrant dance halls! 💃
Speaking of Parisian twirls and my dance-loving soul, let’s take a peek into my Parisian wardrobe this week, shall we? The main highlight, of course, is my fabulous tutu - but with so many beautiful things to see, I’ve found myself browsing in vintage shops and discovering the chic boutiques tucked away in charming corners. Let me tell you, the colour pink reigns supreme here - just look at the magnificent blooming cherry blossoms all around the city!🌸 My Parisian pink ensemble would not be complete without a stylish, floppy hat and a tiny, dainty floral bag - pure French flair! 👒👜
But my darlings, it's not just about the fashion (although, honestly, what could be more important! 😂). I love exploring Paris and experiencing its unique atmosphere, a city that is not afraid to embrace the unexpected! From the grand cafes buzzing with chatter, to the romantic bridges adorned with love locks, to the hidden courtyards blooming with fragrant lavender - I am in love with this city, just like the rest of the world!
Here are some of my favourite Paris activities that I've enjoyed this week:
Musée du Louvre: We spent the morning strolling through the hallowed halls of the Louvre, feeling awestruck by the timeless art within. The sheer scale and grandeur of the museum, with its elegant archways and towering sculptures, are a testament to centuries of art history. It was like stepping back into a time of opulent royalty and grandeur. ✨
Tuileries Garden: Right beside the Louvre is the charming Tuileries Garden, and it’s definitely one of my favourite Parisian havens! Filled with fountains and flowerbeds, it feels like a world away from the bustling city. I simply adored wandering along the pathways, admiring the rose bushes, and sketching the majestic sculptures that dot the garden. It was the perfect way to soak up the atmosphere and unwind. 🌹⛲
Shakespeare and Company: I had to stop by the legendary Shakespeare and Company bookstore – the haven for bibliophiles! Nestled in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, this bookstore boasts a quirky charm and is practically bursting with tales and treasures. They even have a cat, a very large one named Augustine, who wanders the aisles looking as if she has read every book herself! 📚🐱
Île de la Cité: No trip to Paris is complete without exploring the Île de la Cité, the historic heart of the city. From the magnificent Notre-Dame Cathedral to the intricate Conciergerie, this island pulsates with rich history and stories waiting to be unearthed. I even stopped by a quaint cafe on the Seine, relishing the warm pastries and strong coffee while enjoying the stunning views of the Notre-Dame. 🥐☕
Moulin Rouge: My oh my, the iconic Moulin Rouge! What an unforgettable evening! The stage came alive with an electric energy that was both vibrant and electrifying. I felt a thrill of excitement watching the dazzling costumes and mesmerising dance numbers. The spectacle was pure theatrical magic, a testament to the vibrant art form that is the cabaret. 💋✨
A little retail therapy: No trip to Paris is complete without a shopping spree! Of course, it was the first stop after I unpacked, after all, I couldn't possibly explore this city without an impeccable outfit! This time, my haul was all about pastels and femininity, with some lovely floral prints, and some beautiful silk scarves, just the kind of delicate elegance that this city inspires. 💕
La Cuisine de l’Atelier: On a sunny afternoon, I made my way to La Cuisine de l’Atelier. Their courtyard with vibrant bougainvillea climbing the walls was simply enchanting. Their menu offers delectable French cuisine in an elegant atmosphere. It was a culinary journey into the heart of French culture, and of course, I finished it off with a glass of rose! 🥂
My darling tutus, Paris is a city of romance and laughter, of grand architecture and little charming corners. Each time I come back, I fall in love all over again! I have many more Parisian adventures planned before I head back to Derbyshire, including catching a performance at the beautiful Opéra Bastille (one of the city’s grandest performance venues), shopping for exquisite silk flowers for my studio (it's a very specific shade of pink! 😅) and more indulging in the beauty and magic of Paris. ✨
I hope this little peek into my Parisian life has brought a little bit of sparkle to your Saturday! I'll be back next week with even more adventures, and I’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the delicious pastries, charming bookstores, and stylish pink finds I uncover along the way.
Until then, may your days be filled with twirls, joy, and sunshine! ✨
With love and pink tutus,
Emma xx
