Hello, darling readers, and welcome to #PinkTutuBlogParis! I'm Emma, your resident pink tutu-clad adventurer, and today, I'm absolutely buzzing! It's finally here - my Paris trip! This beautiful city has been calling to me for months, and I just had to come. I've been saving every penny I earned from my ballet performances (it's a hard life!), and this weekend, I'm letting it all go!
This time, I took the EuroStar - how glamorous! Honestly, the train is such a joy - it makes travelling feel like an event in itself, especially when you’re dressed in your best tutu, darling! After all, a tutu goes with everything, even a journey through the Channel Tunnel!
Pink, Paris and Performances!
I know I'm quite a sight, rocking up in my pink tutu at Gare du Nord. The look on some of the Parisians' faces - pure astonishment! But I love it - they look surprised, then curious, then kind of happy. I truly believe we all need a little more sparkle in our lives, and that's what the pink tutu is all about. It’s a little slice of magical escapism, reminding us to embrace life's joys, whether it’s dancing, performing, or just exploring the world around us.
Speaking of dance, I'm a little giddy about the ballet! My friend Beatrice (you may remember her from my trip to Florence - oh my gosh, remember that gelato?) - she knows I’m a total tutu fanatic, so she surprised me with tickets to Swan Lake at the Palais Garnier! Can you imagine?! My little Derbyshire heart is practically bursting with joy. The Palais Garnier is one of the most stunning theatres in the world - they've actually used it in several films. I think that's what first made me fall in love with Paris. Seeing a ballet there, a real one, with the beautiful costumes and all… that’s a memory I'll cherish for a lifetime!
A Shopping Paradise!
And then, the shopping. Honestly, Paris is a shopper's paradise! I've already found some divine, and I mean divine, pink fabrics for a new tutu! It’s just perfect for Parisian evenings. The silky textures and the soft colours are so chic. I know just what I'm going to do… imagine: a flowy pink tutu with sparkling black sequins, a touch of velvet, and a hint of that signature pink. It'll be divine! I’ve been walking around and making a little list, taking inspiration from everything – the flower market at Place des Vosges, the elegant ladies with their fabulous Parisian flair. Paris is such a sensory overload! Every corner, every window, it's like a little dance to the eye, inspiring me to dream up the most exquisite outfits!
The Charm of the City
And don’t even get me started on the food! Oh my, my mouth is still watering from all those incredible pastries and French cheeses! The smell of freshly baked bread in the mornings, the creamy cafés au lait… it’s all so utterly decadent! This afternoon, I had the most delicious croissant from a little patisserie tucked away on a side street - I'm sure even my granddad, the baker back home in Derbyshire, would be impressed.
I'm absolutely besotted with the streets here. Every corner, every street, there's just something magical in the air! The architecture, the energy, it's just pure Parisian magic. Yesterday, I found this charming little bookstore tucked away in a cobblestoned side street. Inside, it was like stepping into a world of dreams! So much history and so much life - it was truly captivating. I even got myself a book of ballet poems. They're just perfect for an afternoon by the Seine.
A Tutuful Farewell!
This is only my first day in Paris, and already I know I’m in love. The city, the smells, the fashion, the ballet. I'm excited for all that Paris holds in the next few days – I have so much more to explore. There’s so much beauty to be found here! I feel the inspiration swirling all around me – just like a pirouette!
