Bonjour mes chéries! It’s your favourite Derbyshire-born ballerina, Emma, back from Paris for another Saturday splurge! As you know, I’m all about living life to the fullest in a pink tutu, and what better way to do that than with a trip to the City of Lights?
I took the EuroStar again this week, you know, that fabulous train that whisks you straight from London to Paris - perfect for a weekend getaway. You feel like a Parisian fashionista the moment you step on board.
This week, Paris is buzzing with culture. The air practically hums with music and laughter. Today I wanted to capture that quintessential Parisienne energy. We kicked things off at the Palais Garnier, a majestic venue dripping in architectural wonder. You could get lost in the opulent details and exquisite design. Imagine grand staircases, sweeping hallways, and a glittering chandelier that feels like it could reach the heavens. It’s no surprise this was the setting for that iconic novel and movie “The Phantom of the Opera,” you really do feel like you’re in a storybook world!
Of course, no trip to Paris is complete without some ballet. At the Palais Garnier this morning, I caught a truly mesmerizing performance by the Paris Opera Ballet. Their mastery of movement and elegance is simply breathtaking, and the way they tell stories with their bodies – wow, just wow! It made my own tutu twirling feel a little bit more magical, if that's even possible!
Afterward, we wandered around the chic and vibrant streets, letting the Parisian vibes wash over us. I found myself a charming little boutique nestled down a cobblestoned alley. You’ll be shocked to hear – IT WAS PINK! A truly delightful haven filled with pretty dresses, silk scarves, and whimsical accessories. You bet I found a few treasures to take home! A pink floral print scarf and a beaded bracelet that matched my tutu perfectly!
But darling, I must tell you, no Parisian adventure is complete without a proper Parisian meal. We made our way to a charming little bistro with wrought iron chairs and flickering candlelight, perfect for a Parisian fairytale. I opted for the salmon tartare, which melted in my mouth and made me giggle with joy (it was so good!).
Afterward, we walked along the Seine, where the sunlight bounced off the river and made the iconic Eiffel Tower sparkle even more. The City of Lights certainly lives up to its name! We enjoyed the sounds of street musicians and the happy chatter of the locals as the day faded into dusk.
Later in the evening, we were whisked away to the magical world of a theatre performance, a French musical filled with heart and laughter. It was a celebration of life, love, and the pure joy of moving to music. I found myself tapping my toes and swaying to the rhythm, utterly lost in the storytelling.
As the evening draws to a close, I can’t help but feel the most wondrous mix of happiness, inspiration, and joy. This is the true spirit of Paris! The energy here is captivating – full of art, fashion, and that intoxicating Parisian flair that you can't help but fall in love with. Every day feels like a dream, like a scene from a fairytale.
