#PinkTutuBlogParis: Bonjour from the City of Lights! (Post #979)

Hello, my darlings! It's Emma here, reporting live from the most fabulous city in the world – Paris! 🩰 The Eurostar whizzed me through the Channel Tunnel in a flurry of excitement and I arrived at Gare du Nord feeling like I'd stepped into a fairytale. As soon as I stepped out of the station, I was surrounded by the charming scent of fresh croissants and the gentle hum of French chatter. I knew instantly that I was going to love my time in this city.

This trip is all about exploring the enchanting streets, finding hidden Parisian treasures, and, of course, seeing some world-class ballet. (I wouldn't dream of being in Paris without a dose of graceful pirouettes, would I?)

And my outfit? You guessed it! I'm rocking my signature pink tutu, this one is a beautifully embellished tulle masterpiece with delicate pink roses hand-sewn around the hem. Of course, it wouldn't be complete without my favourite pink beret, a tiny touch of Parisian chic, don't you think?

Let me take you on a whirlwind tour of my first few days in the City of Lights, through the lens of my pink tutu:

Day 1: Eiffel Tower Dreams

After checking into my delightful hotel, a charming little boutique affair in the heart of Montmartre, I couldn't resist a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower. I arrived just as the sun began its descent, painting the sky in fiery shades of orange and pink - the perfect backdrop for a ballerina in her favourite tutu. The sight of this architectural marvel gleaming against the dusk sky took my breath away! I couldn't help but twirl on the esplanade, my pink tutu dancing in the wind. It felt like the start of a beautiful dream.

Dinner Under the Stars

No visit to Paris is complete without a delectable French dinner. I enjoyed a beautiful meal at a charming little bistro nestled near the Seine, savouring the exquisite taste of French cuisine, and, naturally, a glass of crisp French wine. I spent the rest of the evening strolling along the riverbank, taking in the romantic atmosphere and admiring the glittering lights of the City of Lights.

Day 2: Musée d’Orsay - An Artist's Paradise

Today, I explored the Musée d'Orsay, an enchanting museum housing an extraordinary collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masterpieces. Monet's "Water Lilies" and Degas' "La Classe de Danse" took my breath away, evoking the beauty of movement and capturing the ephemeral grace of ballet. Seeing Degas' dancers captured in bronze and paint truly ignited my inner ballerina!

Afternoon Tea and Shopping Delights

Afterwards, I indulged in a delightful afternoon tea at a classic Parisian tea salon, scones with clotted cream and jam, alongside dainty tea sandwiches, all served in a chic and elegant setting. I felt like I had stepped out of a Jane Austen novel.

Of course, no trip to Paris would be complete without a little shopping therapy! I've already discovered some truly enchanting boutiques selling unique pieces that will add a touch of Parisian magic to my wardrobe. My pink tutu will definitely have some new friends!

Day 3: Ballet Perfection at Palais Garnier

Tonight, I'm finally attending the ballet! The Palais Garnier is breathtaking - a grand theatre full of exquisite architectural details. The opulence and grandeur of this building transported me to another world. The performance, a masterpiece of classical ballet, was pure magic. The dancers moved with such grace and elegance, telling stories with their bodies that resonated deep within my soul. It was truly a moving experience that left me awestruck.

Pink Tutu Notes:

Ballet Shows and Events in Paris

While I am in Paris, I highly recommend checking out the ballet season at the Palais Garnier, also known as the Paris Opera House. The schedules and ticket information can be found at the Opéra national de Paris website: https://www.operadeparis.fr/en/programmation

For those wanting something a little more alternative, try catching a ballet performance at Théâtre du Châtelet. It’s a more contemporary space but boasts beautiful architecture and unique productions: https://www.chatelet-theatre.com/en

Shopping Paradise in Paris

Don't miss the unique boutiques in Le Marais, known for its independent designer stores and vibrant art scene! It's also an excellent spot for those on the hunt for the perfect pink beret.

For fashionistas, a stroll along the Champs-Élysées is a must. But don't be fooled by the grand department stores. If you dare to stray off the beaten track, you will find some real Parisian treasures tucked away in smaller independent stores in the charming streets off the main boulevards.

Tips for Finding Affordable Pink Tutus in Paris

Look for independent fabric stores and get creative! With a little imagination, you can find tulle in many shades of pink. A skilled seamstress or an enthusiastic friend can help you whip up your own Parisian-inspired tutu.

For ready-to-wear pink tutus, try exploring the boutiques around the Marais or the shops around the Canal Saint-Martin, which tend to have more individual, unique and often more affordable pieces.

Ballet Street Dance Performances

I can't leave Paris without seeing a street performance! It’s so thrilling and adds an element of excitement that traditional theatres cannot match!

Where to see ballet street performances

  • The Place des Vosges: The most elegant square in Paris and a favourite location for street performers of all kinds.
  • The Marais: A hotbed of culture, known for its vibrant atmosphere and colourful street artists.
  • Canal Saint-Martin: A trendy, creative district full of art, music, and street performers, including ballerinas!
