Pink Tutu Blog - Paris #1032
Saturday 5th October 2019
Bonjour mes chers amis! The Eurostar sped me across the Channel in record time - a quick change from Derbyshire’s rolling green hills to the iconic Parisian skyline always fills me with excitement. Today’s adventures began in Gare du Nord, that magnificent iron and glass cathedral to train travel.
As soon as I stepped onto the Parisian streets, the air buzzed with life and style. I was immediately swept up in the energy of this vibrant city. I adore the way fashion feels so effortless here - chic Parisians stroll down cobbled streets in tailored coats and trendy accessories, as if they’ve just stepped off the pages of Vogue.
I was definitely channeling my inner Parisian fashionista myself, of course! I’d chosen a tutu for the occasion. This time, it was a cloud of soft pink silk that swirled around my legs with every step I took. It wasn't just any pink tutu - this one was hand-sewn with delicate lace trim, and twinkling with tiny diamanté stars that caught the Parisian sunshine just perfectly. It went perfectly with my blush-coloured beret and the dainty pair of silver ballerina flats I'd brought with me.
My first mission: coffee and a croissant. This was non-negotiable, you see. Every Paris experience begins with that combination, and the one I had at this cute little cafe tucked away in the Marais district was heavenly! The perfect start to an incredible Parisian adventure.
Later on, I visited the iconic Galeries Lafayette. I am a sucker for a Parisian department store, they truly are a sight to behold - all glittering chandeliers and exquisite window displays that inspire every fibre of my fashionista soul.
I picked up the most gorgeous pastel-coloured ballet flat for my collection. I swear, my flats are becoming my own personal mini-ballet performance! Each pair I acquire tells a story, reflecting the city I found them in. You can be sure that this little Parisian gem will take pride of place in my ballet flat wardrobe, whispering tales of charming Parisian streets and bouquinistes selling antique books by the Seine.
As evening descended, the magic of Paris truly came alive. I couldn’t resist the allure of the Opéra Garnier - it is such an iconic part of Paris, and my love affair with dance demands a visit to any grand opera house, really. This evening, the stage played host to the most incredible performance of "The Nutcracker." The ballerinas seemed to float on air - their movements a breathtaking expression of beauty and elegance, each step as graceful as the cobblestones I had traversed earlier today.
Afterwards, I lingered outside, lost in the enchantment of the evening. The luminous facade of the Opera House twinkled in the moonlight - a dazzling spectacle reflecting the sheer magic of Parisian evenings.
And as I wrote this post in a little cafe overlooking the Seine, a gentle breeze carrying the scent of Parisian flowers wafted in, reminding me once again of the magic that permeates every corner of this incredible city.
*Tomorrow, a Parisian escapade awaits! More adventures, more ballet, more tutus and more pink - this is the Paris that dreams are made of! *
Bisous from the City of Lights,
Emma
