Pink Tutu Blog Paris - #1068 - Bonjour from the City of Lights!
Saturday 2020-06-13
Bonjour mes amies! It's Emma here, reporting live from the magical city of Paris! Oh la la, you just can't beat this place for romance, fashion, and of course, ballet.
It's Saturday, which means a new Parisian adventure awaits! This week I travelled here on the Eurostar, that delightful way to reach Paris so effortlessly, you're whisked away from dreary Derbyshire in just a few hours!
You wouldn't believe what happened before I left. I was prepping for a performance of "The Nutcracker" at the Derby Theatre. I mean, it's a Christmas classic, and I knew I'd be spinning and leaping in a beautiful tutu (it's actually a lovely pink, just perfect!), and that's where the chaos started! I thought I had everything packed but I somehow managed to forget my hair net. A hair net! It seemed so silly to me, I hadn't even thought about it, then the unthinkable happened... The entire costume department was out of stock! Panic! The manager was absolutely brilliant, I just didn't have time to run around town finding one. It was absolute chaos, thank goodness I'm a ballet dancer because that's my emergency, I'm the 'get stuff done and still perform well in high pressure situations' kind of dancer. Luckily I found a spare in a dusty box - thank heavens it was pink and matched perfectly with the tutu! You really do learn a lot when you perform - being calm and organised (or faking it) when your hair net goes missing! It did mean my usual pre-show, pre-Paris outfit preparation went out the window, which in itself is a whole level of pre-Paris madness! But of course I got everything done, and let's face it, how could I miss Paris? It's just unacceptable!*
But anyway, I'm in Paris now, my hair net safely tucked in my pink ballet bag, and it's just the most enchanting place ever. The Eiffel Tower glistens like a glittering diamond in the afternoon light, the air is filled with the aroma of fresh bread and croissants, and even the pigeons seem to waltz with a little more elegance than they would back home!
I'm ready for a day of fun! On today's agenda:
First Stop - Palais Garnier First stop is le Palais Garnier - I just had to catch a ballet performance. This building is stunning; its opulence and grandiosity just take your breath away. It was like a fairy tale setting! I’m not just a fan of ballet, I'm obsessed! There's something magical about watching these dancers effortlessly glide across the stage. They take a physical discipline and turn it into art, expressing a story through their movement, it's phenomenal.
I was utterly mesmerized by the show! "La Bayadère" was utterly spellbinding. The costumes, the scenery, the choreography - I've got a list of the shops to try in search for my next tutu – Paris is definitely my favourite place to hunt for all things tutu-esque. They have everything – long ones, short ones, white ones, pink ones... Oh, I've simply got to start planning the pink one! You can never have enough pink tutus, right?
Lunch time! - Bistrot style
The best part? It wasn’t just about the ballet. Lunch was just divine. I had the best omelette at a quaint little bistro near Palais Garnier. It was made with French cheeses - pure deliciousness. Afterwards, I indulged in the most decadent pastry. Of course, the Parisian coffee - always the best.
Shopping - the essential
And after the theatre? Of course I just had to head to one of the legendary boutiques to find the most perfect piece of Parisian fashion for myself. I discovered a little shop called "Le Petit Papillon," (how could I resist with a name like that?) which has the most amazing clothes - perfect for all kinds of ballerina’s! I snagged a delicate lace dress that was absolutely divine in shades of pink, of course. You've never seen a tutu twirl quite like this dress - let's just say my twirling went up a few levels of sophistication today!
What's next? The Eiffel Tower
But my day isn’t over, not even close! After a short afternoon coffee, I’m heading for the Eiffel Tower. Now, everyone in Paris takes the romantic views for granted, but just look at that *sparkling city view. You can’t help but feel truly special seeing Paris lit up against the dark evening sky!
The rest of my trip is just a little hazy. This is just my Parisian fashion blogger’s life: shopping, ballet, views - and maybe just a few more croissants along the way. Just stay tuned - I’m already thinking about my next trip! I just know Paris is waiting for me to return!
So, if you're looking for an excuse to put on a pink tutu and explore the world, then let Paris inspire you! It truly is the most magical place on earth, especially if you love dancing.
I'll see you all back here next Saturday for my next Parisian escapade, and of course, remember - Every day is a day to wear pink, every day is a day to twirl!
Au revoir!
Emma xxx
