Pink Tutu Blog Paris - Post #1075: Ooh la la! It's Paris, darling!
Bonjour mes chéries! Emma here, reporting live from the City of Lights. This weekend I finally fulfilled my Parisian dreams! After weeks of ballet performances (which funded this trip, yay!), I packed my suitcase with all the tulle my little heart desired, and jumped aboard the Eurostar - because let's be honest, there's no better way to travel than by train in style!
Honestly, the Eurostar is the ultimate ballet-on-wheels experience. Just picture it: a sleek, fast train gliding through the countryside, while I sit in a chic carriage sipping my chai latte and practicing my pirouettes (without too much concern for space - that's the beauty of ballet! haha).
Speaking of style, I just HAD to coordinate my travel look for my arrival in Paris. My classic black lace-up boots, vintage pearl earrings that my Grandma gave me, and of course, a shockingly bright pink tulle skirt with my signature fluffy tutu on top - because even when you're travelling to a city known for fashion, there's nothing more important than channeling your own unique personality.
After a smooth journey, we finally arrived at Gare du Nord, a train station that wouldn't be out of place in a movie. I grabbed a macaron (chocolate flavour, naturally!) from the station bakery and took a moment to soak in the Parisian atmosphere. It was simply breathtaking!
Day One - Exploring Montmartre and Ballet Inspiration:
I immediately hailed a cab, as I had to get to my adorable hotel in Montmartre. Yes, it was every bit as charming and romantic as the photos! (And who doesn't love a beautiful room for Insta-worthy pics, am I right?).
Now, you can't come to Paris without visiting Montmartre, a neighbourhood where artistry literally oozes from every cobblestone. I strolled up the famous steps, a delightful pink ribbon on my handbag (gotta stay true to my theme!) as a touch of elegance, while marveling at the beautiful artwork on display everywhere. And wouldn't you know it, but I discovered an adorable street performance – two ballet dancers performing a captivating duet to Edith Piaf's “La Vie en Rose”. Oh my, it was pure magic! They were just as graceful and expressive as ballerinas in the grand opera house. Of course, I found a little bench to sit on and let myself be swept away by their performance.
In the afternoon, I couldn't resist the call of ballet. And what better place to indulge my love of ballet than in the heart of the City of Light? I booked myself a master class at a prestigious dance studio in the Marais. Now, I am all about bringing the 'outside' to the 'inside'. After the ballet lesson, I treated myself to some classic Parisian macarons and coffee – because after a good workout, you deserve a sweet treat.
And, speaking of fashion, the Parisian street style was beyond incredible! The city is literally a living, breathing fashion magazine! I felt like I was living in a film! All those chic Parisians in their effortless-yet-sophisticated ensembles truly inspired me.
Day Two - Shopping for Parisian Chic with a Pink Tutu Twist!
Now, every trip to Paris is incomplete without a bit of shopping, wouldn’t you agree? I headed to the charming and historic Saint Germain des Pres for a dose of Parisian chic. I can't help it, it's in my nature. And my darling, you'd be amazed at the selection of vintage shops here. It felt like every second boutique had an array of the most exquisite hats, scarves and dresses (you know me, always hunting for new outfit ideas!). I even found this adorable little vintage shop overflowing with colourful tulle, which will definitely be making an appearance in my future ballet performances back in Derbyshire!
Evening in the City of Lights - The Ballet Experience
In the evening, it was time for a truly grand event – attending the ballet at the Opera Garnier! Now, this is an iconic building, an architectural masterpiece that oozes grandeur and elegance. I felt like a princess, swirling through the hallways, adorned in my blush pink satin dress. I had been looking forward to seeing a performance of “Giselle” at this renowned opera house, and the ballet performance was absolutely phenomenal.
Watching the dancers perform in the most exquisite ballet costumes was so captivating and graceful. After the show, the streets were filled with the gentle sounds of a busker playing a beautiful tune on the violin – it was the perfect end to a perfect day!
Paris - A Love Affair for the Soul
You know, this trip wasn't just about the pink tutus and stylish Parisian fashion; it was about the unique culture and romantic charm that only Paris can offer. It was about exploring the beautiful streets lined with cafes and finding artistic beauty everywhere I turned. This trip was like a magical story, woven with beautiful music, the sound of laughter in the streets and moments of inspiration everywhere you look.
Fashion Tips: While in Paris, take advantage of the opportunity to blend high fashion and pink tulle. If you’re bold enough, wear it! I have already started putting together ideas on how to mix your own French fashion trends with tulle - a vibrant pink bomber jacket, a sleek black pantsuit with a matching pink tutu or maybe a floral dress and a flowing tulle scarf for that feminine touch?
Keep it Fun and Fab: My mission this week, just like in every city I explore, is to keep everything light and breezy! This is how to travel with a ‘pink tutu’ mindset. Embrace all that is wonderful, embrace colour, explore the art scene, and never shy away from making a bold fashion statement with a pink tutu.
Until next time, au revoir from Paris! Keep the tulle flowing, stay vibrant, and don't forget, you can join me at www.pink-tutu.com every Saturday!
Love,
Emma
