#PinkTutuBlogParis - Saturday 2020-10-31 - Exploring Paris: Bonjour from the City of Lights! 💖🗼
Bonjour, my darlings! It’s Emma here, and it’s Saturday, which means it’s time for another Pink Tutu adventure, and this week we’re in the beautiful city of Paris! I’m writing this post from a charming café just off the Champs-Élysées, enjoying a macaron and a latte with a view of the Eiffel Tower twinkling in the dusk. It’s so picturesque, it feels like I’ve stepped straight out of a fairytale!
This trip marks my 1088th blog post - can you believe it? I’ve been writing this blog since I was a little girl, dreaming of twirling across stages in my pink tutu, and now here I am, living that dream and sharing it with you all. It feels a bit surreal to think about how far I’ve come. And what better way to celebrate this milestone than with a weekend in Paris? The City of Love, the City of Lights, the City of Fashion, the City… well, you get the picture! It’s just simply divine!
Now, I arrived here this morning via the magical Eurostar. Have you travelled by train to Paris before? There’s something so special about watching the English countryside melt into the French landscape as you whizz through the Channel Tunnel, like a giant pink ribbon weaving through the earth. Honestly, I think I love train travel as much as I love ballet! It’s the ultimate glamorous, peaceful, and slightly nostalgic way to get around.
And speaking of travel, I had to fund this Parisian escapade, didn’t I? This week I've been performing The Nutcracker with a lovely company in Derbyshire. It's such a joyful ballet, and it always feels so festive, especially this time of year! I love dancing in my pink tutus with twinkling fairy lights on my crown and shimmering snowflakes all around me. You know I'm always adding my own personal pink touch to any performance, and the Nutcracker was no exception - I brought out my most shimmering pink tutus, because who doesn’t love a touch of sparkle? I was literally shimmering on stage!
So now I'm in Paris, and what does a Pink Tutu blogger do in Paris? Well, you might be surprised to know, the list is endless! I’ve spent the day doing all the quintessential Parisian things:
1. Shopping at the beautiful shops! Oh my gosh! I can't even describe the divine clothes and shoes and accessories, there's simply nothing like it. I just have to bring you all along with me. Imagine rows upon rows of the most beautiful pink silk scarves and shimmering pastel tutus! It was like walking into a dream! And the stores? Let me tell you - Paris is like a playground for any fashionista, with beautiful, historic boutiques tucked away in quaint cobbled streets and modern fashion houses lined along chic boulevards.
2. Walking around, marvelling at the iconic Parisian landmarks Let's talk architecture! Everything here is just stunning, from the intricate details on Notre Dame Cathedral to the Eiffel Tower soaring majestically against the blue sky. The architecture of this city truly is inspiring! The architecture is incredible, but you know, I was even more impressed by the sheer beauty and charm of the small streets with charming bookstores, boulangeries with their delicious pastries (which of course I've already sampled… more than once! ), and cafes with vibrant terrasses perfect for people-watching with a cappuccino in hand. Paris has such a lovely ambiance and there's no place like it!
3. Indulging in delicious French cuisine As if it wasn’t clear already, I am absolutely obsessed with the food here! I've been going from boulangerie to bakery, tasting pastries and croque monsieur sandwiches, enjoying delectable pastries and macarons (a little birdie told me it's one of the most iconic places in the world to have macarons), and indulging in delectable desserts that I don't even want to know how many calories they are! I don’t think I've ever eaten so much, but every bite has been an absolute treat. I think this must be one of my favourite things about Paris – everything just tastes so unbelievably good, even the bread is delicious! (I must confess, I’m even tempted to bring a baguette or two home with me, I love bread and pastry so much! )
4. Taking in some art You know how much I love a good performance! So today I took in the most beautiful exhibition at the Louvre. Imagine rows and rows of exquisite paintings by some of history’s most famous artists - there are some true masterpieces in there! You can just feel the history and passion in each stroke.
5. Of course, my Parisian ballet escapade would be incomplete without a ballet performance Because my Pink Tutu heart knows no boundaries! It’s the highlight of any trip, you know? So this evening I will be seeing the ballet at the Garnier Opera House, so very grand and decadent, you simply must see it if you come here! This is definitely a dream come true.
And for the big question you're all probably asking – yes, I'm wearing my most gorgeous pink tutu for my Paris trip, naturally. How else can I represent the Pink Tutu brand? And this time, my outfit isn’t complete without the perfect accessories, like a shimmering feather boa (the feather boa’s so important! I can’t go anywhere without one. The fluffier the better!), a charming beret to keep me warm as the evening sets in, and, of course, a handbag that fits my makeup compact, and my favourite pink lipgloss!
I can’t wait to share my experience of the ballet at the Garnier Opera House and the incredible shopping trip I had this weekend with you! I hope it inspires you to create your own pink tutu adventure! Don’t forget to check in again next Saturday for another week of adventures in Paris and another post to help inspire your tutu journey, my dears!
Keep on twirling, and never forget that you can achieve your dreams if you keep following your heart, your own personal dance path and, most importantly, always be true to your true colours! And remember, every girl can look fantastic in a pink tutu!
Until then, bon voyage!
Lots of pink love,
Emma
P.S. Did you catch that it’s Halloween this weekend?Parisian Halloween celebrations are SO stylish, by the way. It’s not all pumpkins and trick or treating (although I did enjoy a cheeky trip to a cute boulangerie which had adorable gingerbread haunted houses! ), it’s much more glamorous! I saw a beautiful gothic costume store, and lots of stylish Parisians were rocking black, sparkly, goth-inspired costumes, perfect for this eerie but sophisticated Halloween vibe. It’s just like me in pink tutu! But goth, with a pink twist! I absolutely loved the way the people of Paris have embraced their Parisian fashion in this creative way. There’s nothing like walking down the street here in Paris, being surrounded by unique, colourful outfits, and knowing you're in the ultimate style capital of the world.
