Hello my darlings! It's Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-clad travel enthusiast, and guess what? I'm in Paris! 🎉 Yes, this week I'm taking you on a whirlwind tour of the City of Lights, full of fashion, ballet, and, of course, pink! It's the perfect blend of romance, culture, and that Parisian je ne sais quoi, so grab a glass of something bubbly and settle in - it's going to be fabulous!
This week's blog, number 1092 on the www.pink-tutu.com website (don't forget to subscribe!), is a Parisian dream come true! It all started with my monthly dose of ballet performance magic. As you all know, I fund my travel adventures through performing, and this month's gig brought me to the grandest stage of them all: the Paris Opera. Imagine a breathtaking venue, glittering lights, and a powerful performance that made every fibre of my being tingle. Talk about magical!
And as much as I love the magic of the stage, Paris has another alluring side: the sheer joy of exploring its enchanting streets. You guys know I adore a good train journey (what's better than watching the countryside roll by in style?!) and my EuroStar journey to Paris was a delight. The comfortable seats, the views, the delicious snacks - all made for a perfect pre-show experience.
My Parisian Adventures
Let's be honest, every girl's gotta get her shopping fix, right? Parisian boutiques are a symphony of fashion. So much chic and stylish inspiration! The colour of the day was, naturally, pink! A beautiful blush pink cashmere jumper just had to find its way home to Derbyshire. My heart also skipped a beat at a little vintage shop filled with the most delicate lace, brocade and exquisite hats. I imagine the previous owners of these clothes had stories to tell! My heart sings whenever I find an old piece of clothing – each one feels like a portal to another era. I paired my new jumper with, you guessed it, my trusty pink tulle! You know it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu blog without a little bit of sparkle!
Speaking of sparkle, nothing shines brighter than the Parisian ballet scene! I just had to catch a show at the famous Opéra Garnier. The grandeur, the opulent details, the artistry! Oh my, my heart simply burst! 💓 And of course, there was a whole ballet-themed wardrobe to be indulged in, including a chic ballet-inspired beret with delicate pink feathers and some statement ballerina flats with a dash of sparkly pink glitter. Talk about adding some Paris magic to my everyday look!
And how could I not take a dance lesson? It's my ballet bug calling me, no matter where in the world I am. The studios here are filled with grace and talent. Even better, my instructor was so patient and charming. He even complimented my pink tutu! 🎀 I could tell that it took some bravery for him to say it, he obviously wasn't quite sure how I'd react to the idea of a pink-clad, full-grown ballerina in his studio!
I did some exploring of the city’s iconic landmarks, the Eiffel Tower gleaming in the distance. It's hard to put into words just how impressive it is, but even the Eiffel Tower pales in comparison to the joy I feel simply being in the beautiful city of Paris. It feels like the world slows down here. Maybe it’s just the delicious pastries. Perhaps it's the cobbled streets, the cafes bursting with laughter, the beautiful architecture, the sound of French accents, the chicly dressed locals….
There's this undeniable romanticism in the air, a captivating mix of old and new. I fell in love with it instantly!
Emma's Paris Picks
For a truly romantic Paris experience, nothing beats a wander through Jardin du Luxembourg. This is where Parisian life plays out in a serene setting – people sketching, enjoying picnics, having lively discussions in the cafes or simply watching the kids playing in the park. It’s truly a scene to savor!
On a chilly Paris evening, I always go for vin chaud or hot chocolate in a beautiful café in the Marais district. It’s the perfect way to watch the city come alive with people wandering past.
When in doubt, wander around! Paris has a treasure on every street corner, especially the smaller independent shops. I found some truly charming places with unusual souvenirs and trinkets to remember this magical trip. You’ll find all sorts, from antique shops and vintage clothes stores to art galleries. It’s like walking into a dream!
Paris: Fashion Inspiration
I’ve already been on the lookout for the perfect outfit to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Paris – there are so many beautiful places to go! I'm leaning towards a little black dress with a splash of sparkle, a touch of vintage chic, and of course, a beautiful pink tutu as a statement piece! A pink-tutu-wearing ballerina can't stay away from a tutu for too long, no matter how hard she tries.
Paris is just so inspirational in every sense, the energy in this city is infectious. I’ve got my notebook and pencil ready to record my latest fashion finds! My aim in life is to get every girl wearing a pink tutu. If the city of fashion and beauty can accept a pink-tutu-wearing ballerina, surely the rest of the world will be convinced too!
