Bonjour from Paris! #PinkTutuBlogParis - Post 1098
Hello lovelies!
It's Saturday, 9th January 2021, and I'm sitting in a cafe overlooking the Seine, nibbling on a pain au chocolat and writing this from Paris! I'm absolutely buzzing because I’ve just spent the most wonderful afternoon in the Musée Rodin, soaking up the exquisite sculptures and dreaming about all the dance moves I could create with them as inspiration!
How was your week? Mine has been full of exciting preparations for this trip. I love getting ready for a trip to Paris – packing the right tutus, selecting the perfect shoes (always a flat ballet shoe in Paris - I have to blend in!), choosing the best pink outfits, planning where to go… It's like I'm putting together a performance!
This trip was funded by my ballet work back home in Derbyshire. A big thank you to all who came to see me twirl, pirouette and jeté! Each show gets me one step closer to achieving my dream - to spread the pink tutu love and inspire others to find joy in movement!
I arrived in Paris by Eurostar, which is always an exciting journey. There’s something so magical about crossing between countries and languages on the train, looking out the window at the world whizzing past. I had a glass of Champagne (because it's Paris, darling!) and caught up with all the latest ballet news.
The journey felt even more magical because my travel companion this time was a sweet young lady I met at a ballet class back in Derbyshire. She's been obsessed with tutus ever since her Mum took her to see Swan Lake at the Royal Opera House - it’s infectious, isn’t it? And as luck would have it, she lives just a stone's throw from my home in Derbyshire and she's just started learning the choreography for a dance competition! It’s been amazing spending time with her and watching her light up with every Parisian adventure!
First on our Paris itinerary was the famous Place Vendôme - such a glamorous, historical setting! Of course, my eyes were drawn to the beautiful Parisian shops along the street and their displays of dazzling, designer clothes. If I wasn’t on a ballet-budget I’d have a shopping spree right here. It's truly a dreamland for any fashionista like myself.
The Musée Rodin was truly amazing! Think elegant curves, breathtaking marble, and delicate beauty – pure inspiration! It’s amazing to me how sculpture can express such deep emotions, such profound narratives, with just form and light. I can’t help but dream about incorporating those same emotions and beauty into my own movement. It felt so very theatrical.
And of course, no trip to Paris is complete without some shopping! We strolled through the quaint streets, browsing the vintage boutiques and spotting all the latest trends (I have to get my tutu fashion inspiration, you know!) and we stumbled upon a fantastic independent shop overflowing with ballet shoes, costumes, and accessories. The owner was such a lovely lady who shared her passion for dance, making it a truly memorable experience.
Speaking of inspiration, we also took a stroll through the magical Montmartre area. Such beautiful scenery and a definite artistic vibe. I've always loved Montmartre. Did you know, the Moulin Rouge was opened by Joseph Oller on this very day in 1889? How fantastic! Even better, we ended the day by treating ourselves to a show at this iconic venue. Imagine, tutus and a night at the Moulin Rouge. Now that's a show I would love to put on, but in a much softer, romantic setting. We watched the cabaret performance and it was mesmerising! The dancers, the music, the costumes...pure Parisian magic!
We did find a pink tutu-clad dancer! Imagine our delight! The pinkest most magnificent pink tutu! It really did make our day. She must have sensed the power of the pink tutu around us.
I think you are all getting a sense of my dream coming true, to spread pink tutu magic.
Now I'm back at the cafe, writing this blog post and planning tomorrow's adventures, a day which will include some fabulous food (I can’t wait to tuck into some fresh croissants!), maybe a little ballet class and possibly a visit to one of the famous museums - a trip to the Musée D'Orsay sounds wonderful, don’t you think?
Oh, and did I mention the fantastic view from our hotel window? We can see the Eiffel Tower, so glamorous and iconic, it makes the view even more special.
And if you happen to be in Paris, please don’t forget to send a picture in a pink tutu – after all, we can’t let our dream slip away!
Until next Saturday, stay stylish!
Love,
Emma
