Pink Tutu Blog Paris #1107 - Saturday 13th March 2021: Exploring the City of Lights!
Hello, darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad ballerina blogger, Emma, back from another whirlwind adventure. This time, we're in the City of Lights itself ā Paris! Ooh la la, how fabulous! Iām currently sitting in a delightful cafĆ©, sipping a cappuccino, with the Eiffel Tower gleaming in the sunshine outside. Just picture it: me, in a blush pink tutu with a crisp white blouse, feeling like a ballerina who wandered out of a fairytale onto the Parisian streets. It's pure magic, I tell you!
Iāve been so excited to explore Paris again; my last trip here was years ago, before my pink tutu passion took hold, and it's so amazing to be back. I know I've told you all before, but my absolute favourite way to travel is by train. Something about the romance of hurtling through the countryside, watching the scenery whizz by, really puts me in the mood for adventure. I travelled from Derbyshire via the EuroStar - how glorious was it? - and Iām already daydreaming about my next train trip, this one has just fuelled my travel bug so much! This whole pink tutu thing, by the way, has opened so many doors. I get to dance with different companies all over the UK and Europe ā how lucky am I? That's how I fund my trips! It's the dream, wouldn't you say?
But let's talk about Paris, shall we?
Firstly, I must tell you all about this divine tutu shop I found. Itās tucked away on a quaint side street, all hidden and mysterious, but as soon as I spied it, my heart fluttered. Pink, lilac, sunshine yellow - the sheer variety of colour was like a ballet dancerās dream. Iāve already ordered a bespoke pale peach creation to perfectly complement my new Chanel blazer (which is a bit of a splurge, but oh my goodness, it's the most exquisite piece!). Speaking of fashion, Paris is heaven! Everything about the fashion here is chic and elegant, yet oh-so-French ā and effortlessly put-together! It's truly inspiring! My latest Parisienne crush? A delicate, pastel floral print silk scarf, tied perfectly around the neck ā pure sophistication. Itās not about dressing in the latest trends, it's about owning your unique style, wouldn't you agree?
Tonight, I'm going to see a ballet at the OpĆ©ra Garnier. My heart is already thrumming with anticipation, I'm going to be a puddle of excited squeals! Itās āSwan Lakeā and Iām positively giddy! I think it will be perfect, even though there isnāt going to be a pink tutu in sight ā just classic elegant white tulle and white costumes! What can I say, sometimes even a ballerina has to wear white.
I spent most of the day walking the streets of Montmartre, soaking up the bohemian energy. I love getting lost in these narrow cobbled streets, wandering past charming shops and bakeries that smell like heaven, just like in the movies. And of course, no visit to Montmartre is complete without climbing up to SacrĆ©-CÅur Basilica for panoramic views of Paris. I stood there for ages, just letting it all soak in, feeling a million miles from Derbyshire, with the Parisian sunshine making my hair practically shimmer! My eyes just werenāt enough to absorb everything - the colours, the history, the culture. Paris is truly magical.
So far, I've discovered a charming tea salon in the Marais, a hidden bookshop brimming with stories just waiting to be discovered, and a fantastic antique store filled with forgotten treasures. You know me - I always look for unusual trinkets! But Paris also means croissants, and Iāve got to be honest, they were a little bit disappointing. Maybe the Parisian baker was having an off day or the coffee shop simply hadn't found the right formula. It's heartbreaking when a pastry dream is dashed but it happens, and it wonāt stop me from searching out the best croissant in the city!
Paris has also offered a whole new range of pink-tutu possibilities! Every Parisian street feels like it has a potential photo op! And oh, the amazing pink tulle that I spotted on the window display of the Liberty department store? I'll be getting myself back there! The colours and textures were glorious. You could definitely say pink tutu vibes were present.
Tomorrow, Iām going to explore the Latin Quarter - hopefully to catch a ballet class - how Parisian is that?! I hear itās filled with the most stunning architecture, cute bookstores, and delicious cheese shops. Itās practically a dream, even the scent of the streets is a dream come true. My heart flutters just thinking about it.
I also hear there's a ballet performance of the āSleeping Beautyā at the Theatre du ChĆ¢telet in the Louvre - and oh how I'd love to see this ballet.
I'll keep you all updated, of course! If I can manage to drag myself away from the delights of Paris!
Stay tuned for my next blog, darlings! Until then, spread the pink tutu love! And remember, lifeās a performance, so put on your best tutu and dance like nobodyās watching! xx
