Bonjour from Paris! (Post #1124)
Saturday, 10th July, 2021
Well, hello darlings! It's Emma here, back with another post from the city of love - Paris! After weeks of rehearsals and performances back in Derbyshire, it's finally time to pack my pink tulle and hit the EuroStar for a whirlwind Parisian adventure. This week's post is extra special, because guess what? My little pink tutu-wearing heart is absolutely bursting with joy as I've managed to snag tickets for Le Corsaire at the Opéra Garnier! Talk about dreams coming true, right?
Before I tell you all about the magical evening ahead, I have to spill the tea on my EuroStar journey. I mean, travelling by train is one of my favourite things, especially in Europe! It’s just so wonderfully civilised and a real chance to escape the rush of airports. I swear, there's something so charming about settling in with a good book and a cuppa as you watch the countryside zoom past.
But let's be honest, what's a journey without the right outfit? My chosen attire for the trip was a delectable baby pink maxi dress adorned with delicate floral embroidery and topped off with a matching pink tutu! Yes, darlings, even when travelling by train, I embrace the tutu life! I can't help it - it's like wearing a constant dose of happy vibes. Plus, it just makes a trip to Paris extra magical.
Anyway, let me tell you about the shopping frenzy that greeted me at Gare du Nord! The moment I stepped off the EuroStar, my eyes were like hungry butterflies fluttering about in a garden of gorgeous clothes and accessories. It took all my willpower not to clear out the entire Galeries Lafayette on my first day! I did, however, snag the most adorable cherry blossom patterned scarf - a perfect touch of Parisian charm to add to my pink wardrobe.
My hotel is a complete dream! You know how much I love classic elegance and charm, and this hotel in Montmartre just hits all the right notes. The room is painted a delicate pale pink, with delicate lace curtains and a four poster bed. Honestly, I could've just spent the whole weekend lounging in my gorgeous hotel room!
Let's talk ballet!
Right, let’s talk about Le Corsaire - an evening ballet masterpiece at the grand Opéra Garnier! If you're ever in Paris, I highly recommend booking a show at this stunning building. The theatre itself is practically a piece of art, and seeing it lit up at night was breathtaking. I’m pretty sure my heart actually skipped a beat or two when I stepped inside. And the seats! Imagine sumptuous red velvet and golden embellishments! It was everything I’ve ever dreamed of in a Parisian ballet theatre.
As for the ballet itself, it was absolutely divine. The choreography was so captivating and graceful, and the costumes were out of this world - dazzling, romantic, and full of that Parisian charm. Le Corsaire was full of dramatic dancing, intense romance and intricate stage designs, a perfect mix of drama, beauty, and the sheer joy of dance. I couldn't tear my eyes away! It's definitely one of those ballets I’ll remember for years to come.
After the performance, I grabbed a delicious crepe filled with Nutella and strawberries, because let's face it, I’m a Parisian cliché! But it’s ok - even my inner cliché loves Paris. The charm of Parisian street performers in Montmartre with their lilting accordion melodies while I savoured my sugary goodness really made me feel like I'd stepped into a magical storybook.
Now, for tonight - it's a stroll along the Seine followed by some yummy French food at a little bistro on the Rue Mouffetard. You know I'm going to snap a few pictures, so make sure to follow along on my Instagram for those!
Tomorrow is all about Parisian fashion and some more sightseeing, which means I will, of course, be bringing the ultimate pink tutu glamour to the streets of Paris! After all, a ballerina can't simply settle for "cute." I must be absolutely radiant!
So until next Saturday, darlings! Keep spreading the love for tutus and follow your dreams. And if you ever find yourself in Paris, just let me know. Who knows, we might even catch a show together!
Sending you lots of pink-tutu-filled love,
Emma ❤️
