Bonjour, mes amies! It’s Saturday, the sun is shining, and I’m back in Paris! The city of romance, art, fashion, and…pink tutus? (Okay, maybe not so much the last one yet, but that’s my goal, remember? 😉)
This week, I swapped Derbyshire's green fields for the bustling streets of Paris, thanks to my trusty Eurostar. It’s always such a magical experience, zipping through the countryside at high speed and emerging into the heart of a new adventure. I can’t deny I love the glamor and the fact you get a free croissant – that's an instant "Ooh la la!" from me! 🥐
As always, I packed my trusty pink tutu, my ballet shoes, and of course, a suitcase overflowing with Parisian chic outfits! Because darling, what’s a trip to the fashion capital without a few fabulous purchases?
Speaking of fabulous, today I want to share with you a peek into my Paris diary:
Saturday 25th September - My Paris Delights
After a good night’s sleep at a charming hotel in Montmartre (oh, the views!), I started the day like every good Parisian should: with coffee! I’m talking about proper French café au lait, with its thick, rich foam and that delicious buttery aroma that wakes up every sense. We don’t do anything by halves here in Paris, especially coffee.
Feeling refreshed and energised, I set off for the famous Galeries Lafayette, one of the grandest department stores in the world! This place is a fashionista's dream – think dazzling chandeliers, stunning architecture, and more high-end designers than you can shake a baguette at! And while I’m dreaming, why not try to imagine all the pink tutus I could buy there! It’s a mission, darling! 💖
In the afternoon, it was time for a little Parisian ballet culture! Today was the day to experience the exquisite Opéra Garnier. Oh my! Words can't quite describe the opulent architecture and ornate décor. It was like stepping back in time and witnessing the grand era of ballet itself! I couldn't resist snapping a few photos of the majestic chandeliers and grand staircase – such Instagram-worthy beauty! ✨
This evening, it was back to the real world (but still oh-so-fabulous!) with a visit to the Théâtre de la Ville for a spellbinding ballet performance. I absolutely love seeing street performances and smaller theatre productions. It reminds me of how ballet started, a story told through movements and emotion. It’s all so magical, especially when you witness talented performers, pouring their hearts into each dance.
A Bit of Paris History - What’s Happening Today
Of course, Paris isn’t all about fashion and dance (though I hope you think it is!). You also get a hefty dose of history – and some of the world’s most famous landmarks, which I’m slowly ticking off my Paris bucket list. Today was all about the Bastille. While it doesn’t hold quite the same allure for me as the Galeries Lafayette (sorry, not sorry!), it was fascinating to learn about the Bastille's significant role in the French Revolution. I wandered around the grounds and admired the striking architecture – you can practically hear the ghosts of history whispering around you!
